The successful candidate will be working on the Visa Risk Services team which is part of the Payment Processing Development organization. The candidate should be a motivated self-starter requiring limited direction.
Primary Responsibilities:
Analyze business requirements and work with product team to seek clarification and prepare technical specifications.
Define scope, requirements and technical details for new projects and enhancements.
Work independently with minimal guidance becoming a mentor and role model for other team members
Specify architecture and lead software design efforts by adhering to best practices of security, scalability, performance, and manageability
Develop flexible cost-effective solutions to meet tactical and strategic business requirements
Quickly gain domain expertise in critical application areas to SME level
Provide leadership, mentorship, technical and domain expertise to the development team
Lead a team of software engineers in delivering projects with end-to-end responsibility
Develop and document high level and detailed design specifications using the Object-Oriented paradigm
Code & unit test system components and applications in a range of programming languages
Deliver quality code targeting zero defect policy
Champion software development best practices such as software development standards, code reviews, secure coding practices, integration test etc.
Proactively work to identify issues and provide solutions for the same
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.
3-5 years work experience with backend system development including Java/Hadoop
Preferred Qualifications:
9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
Proficient in Linux
Experienced in MapReduce, HDFS, etc.
Ability to work effectively on multiple concurrent assignments with both technical and business staff
Flexibility, self-motivated, high work standards, attention to detail, ability to perform as an individual contributor or as a member or leader of a team
Basic written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills
Ability to deal with flexible time scheduling
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 142,300.00 to 185,000.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
