Job Description

In this mission critical role, you will be responsible for managing a team of software engineers who are at the forefront in building the next generation of systems that provide connectivity and access into Visa. The access systems are fundamental to the Visa Business and amongst only a handful of the most mission critical systems at Visa. You will provide leadership to deliver access solutions that fit into the wider efforts to re-engineer Visa’s core processing systems. You need to have an excellent background in leading large scale software development projects, be a dynamic leader and above all be customer and team focused. The position is based in Denver, CO.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of software engineers ensuring that staff are fully engaged, motivated and productive. This includes people management, staff career growth and performance reviews.

  • Take a leadership role and manage large scale software projects, taking absolute ownership with end-to-end planning, resource management and communications.

  • Ensure that our production systems are always available and provide whatever effort is required to achieve this absolute objective. You must deliver software and systems to the highest levels of security at Visa.

  • Instill best practices for software development, assure designs meet requirements, and deliver high quality work on tight schedules.

  • Provide mentorship to develop and nurture staff. Assist in hiring critical talent and identify key staff to become the next generation of leaders in the Gateway Services department and beyond.

  • Lead strong partnerships with key stakeholders including product management, operations, cyber security and quality assurance.

  • Engage in technical and functional discussions with engineering teams with strong interpersonal and organizational skills to effectively manage multiple work streams.

  • Project management: prioritization, planning of projects and features, stakeholder management and tracking of external commitments.

Position is based in Highlands Ranch, CO

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
• At least 5 years of experience in managing or leading a team of engineers for delivering software from requirements to production implementation. Must have solid experience with working with cross-geographical teams.
• 10+ years of experience in designing, developing and supporting large-scale mission-critical systems in a high availability fault tolerant business environment (think 99.9999% availability) is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• Prior extensive experience in the design and development of high performance real-time multi-threaded back-end processing systems is required, ideally in the Payments or similar space.
• A deep understanding of end-to-end software development lifecycle, and a track record of shipping software on time and on budget is required. Experience should include a focus on software productivity, work processes, development methods and production support capability.
• Must have a specific and demonstrable track record of implementing Cybersecurity through-out the software lifecycle. This must include data at rest & in-transit encryption solutions, secure coding, vulnerability management and all other aspects of security compliance.
• Strong technology and leadership background in Linux, Java, TCP/IP, Spring, REST APIs, MySQL, and Angular/React.
• The role requires superlative communication skills: verbal, written and presentation.
• BS/MS Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.


U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 143,800 to 187,000USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable).  Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
