Job Description

The Acceptance Solutions team at Visa focuses on delivering world class payment products that enable merchants in any market to be paid in any currency they do business in. Payment APIs and the various channels and products supported in that portfolio provide the critical components for a successful transaction and sale of goods and services. The Technical Product Management team is responsible for driving the development, implementation, and adoption of payment solutions globally.

The Director, Technical Product Management will be responsible for driving the global strategy and roadmap for the Payments solutions portfolio by region with internal business stakeholders, and solution providers. The incumbent will be part of the global Payments Product Team and will work with stakeholders in product, merchant sales and acquiring, business development, and technical account management across various geographic regions. The Director will collaborate with team members to define business requirements and prioritize features to support the needs of the acceptance channel.

 The right candidate will possess a strong technical product management background, with demonstrated experience in managing products and services that have created business value and delivered impact within the payment risk domain or similar industries.

 A successful candidate is a high impact leader with the ability to engage in high bandwidth conversations with business and technology partners and be able to think broadly about Visa’s business and drive solutions that will enhance the safety and integrity of Visa’s payment ecosystem. Successful candidates will be skilled at forging strong partnerships with business sponsors, product owners, architects, and developers to define feature sets, story maps, detailed user stories (functional and non-functional) to support the development process.

This role will also partner with the cross-functional leadership team to help define the roadmap priorities and ensure that it remains aligned with the broader strategic priorities. 

The Director will provide subject matter expertise for internal, client, and partner sales efforts. Additional responsibilities include supporting attainment of the acceptance related goals for Visa’s Value-Added Services (VAS) efforts.

  • Essential Functions
    • Develop of a comprehensive product execution strategy and align with the product roadmap to drive the usage of our Acceptance Solutions products.
    • Lead a team of high performing Technical Product Managers to build/maintain processing connections, driving ownership of full lifecycle of Product Management
    • Lead the adoption, policies, implementation, and enablement of payment APIs with Visa's clients, merchants, and partners in various regions
    • Drive the development of payment products and solutions that promote security, increase sales, and provide a seamless user experience.
    • Play a key role in defining the value proposition, and delivery roadmap of features that align with business and market demands.
    • Building a strong partnership with business owners and contribute to the definition and evolution of business strategy, goals, roadmap, and objectives. Working with architects and leads in evolving technology roadmaps for applications and systems within the Payment domain and ensuring alignment with business and enterprise strategies.
    • Ensuring all stakeholders have a common understanding of all solution requirements.
    • Participation in solution design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.
    • Engage with client facing teams on market opportunities, integration, and product rollout activities at global scale.
    • Conduct performance analytics, business reviews, and generate recommendations for expanding product usage and performance improvements.
    • Be a leader, thought partner, and an integral part of a team of high performing technical product managers.
    • Coach/mentor junior members of the team to help build the next generation of product talent.
    • Keep abreast of industry trends and the competitive and regulatory landscape.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
– 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:
– 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
– 5+ years of industry experience as a product manager within a technology environment, with a record of successfully delivering complex products and services
– Experience and knowledge of card present, card not present, and alternative payment methods, including details about their mechanics and use cases.
– Proven ability to manage complex products and projects through various, often competing priorities, constraints, and requirements.
– Customer champion with a proven track record of developing and executing a product vision based on deep understanding of customer needs.
– Proven leadership capabilities including strong thought leadership, effective decision making, and ability to drive for results.
– Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong emphasis on empathy to build relationships with internal Visa teams and clients.
– Excellent written and oral communication skills with a flair for getting people excited.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 169,200 to 220,000 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable).  Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
