Job Description

We are seeking an undergrad Systems Analyst intern to join Visa's Technology organization. This is a key role working with organizations across IT and the business to ensure infrastructure capacity is utilized in the most effective and cost efficient manner.

Internship duties and responsibilities could include:

  • Gather, sort, and enrich data for various capacity and performance metrics
  • Make effective use of technology capital through disciplined demand forecasting, capacity management, utilizing proactive performance management and modeling
  • Operate in complex, highly-secure, and highly-available operations environments and interact with the technology domain experts required to maintain those environments
  • Maintain a common documentation library of standardized processes and procedures
  • Experience working with management and users from all levels of knowledge and expertise
  • Work with the Capacity and Performance team to provide support to application and engineering teams and assist management with identifying future costs related to hardware and software

Some examples of previous summer intern projects:

  • Managing databases
  • Supporting applications and middleware technologies
  • Defining and implementing alert management rules
  • Analyzing current processes and helping to identify process improvements
  • Updating the web portal to make it more intuitive and useful
  • Defining and implementing metrics for use by various levels of management
  • Investigating production incidents

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS/MIS, Cybersecurity, Business or a related field, graduating December 2023 or later
  • Strong communications skills, specifically, the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and spoken communications, and communications that demonstrate professional judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of production support processes such as incident/change/problem management, call triaging and escalation procedures
  • Ability to write and maintain scripts to monitor system activity including application smoke test activities during pre and post production implementations
  • The ability to take on challenges and address problems head-on
  • Strong ability to collaborate
  • Highly driven, resourceful and results oriented
  • Good team player and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and navigate through ambiguity

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department. 

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time. 

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
