Job Description

Senior Manager Global Credit Risk Management. The primary responsibility of the Senior Manager is to conduct fundamental credit research in support of Visa's global counterparty portfolio. The Senior Manager will be responsible for protecting Visa from settlement losses by properly identifying settlement risks and recommending respective mitigation actions. The role will also have the opportunity to participate in a cross functional team to design new payment products, implementing machine learning technology in daily risk surveillance as well as researching and validating models for banks, Corporates and Fintechs. In addition, the position will work closely with various key internal and external stakeholders.

The position will also entail working on other broader strategic initiatives and complex projects for CSR team on a global basis, in its mandate to support the Business Teams and the growth of the client portfolio and related business initiatives.     

The Senior Manager will report directly to the Director, Global Credit Settlement Risk.  The successful candidate will have strong credit skills and a deep understanding of the financial markets and payment ecosystems.  Specifically he/she will:

Review incentive deals in the global portfolio. Actively engaged in communicating portfolio risks to both internal and external stakeholders to develop strategies that support business growth while addressing risk concerns. Diligently monitor clients that may cause concerns and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies. Help to evaluate and validate models for Visa clients including banks, financial institutions and FinTech clients. Support the director or global CSR team in multiple ad hoc projects

Qualifications

Basic:

  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred:

  • Bachelors in Finance or equivalent and knowledge of fixed income markets. 
  • MBA or CFA preferred with a total of 10+ years of experience   
  • 8+ years relevant experience, including at least 4 years analyzing banks/non-bank financial institutions or corporates     
  • Proven track record and ability to network, engage and influence all senior and executive management
  • Experience at both understanding and managing quantitative credit rating models (Banks and Corporates)
  • Ability to clearly articulate results after analyzing large scales of data to senior management as the basis for making key credit decisions
  • Innovative and creative thinker with a proven track record of delivery and ability to manage several projects concurrently and see them through from conception to conclusion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present clear and concise  recommendations to management   
  • Visa or other payment industry knowledge a plus

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
