Job Description

This Vice President will be a member of Visa’s North America (NA) Operations team, which is responsible for various activities and initiatives that support the NA business and sales team that span across U.S. and Canada. The position requires a seasoned professional with a broad, well-rounded set of skills, a high-level of energy, flexibility, and a demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment. This position is based in Foster City or San Francisco California.

As the head of the NA Meetings and Events team, you will be responsible for strategic direction of over ~ 75 NA meetings and events and work very closely with the President of North America. The types of meetings and events range from internal monthly NA All-Staffs, to the annual NA Leadership Meeting to external client meetings and events with C-level attendees, to client business meetings at our sponsorship events (e.g. Super Bowl, FIFA, Olympics), to Visa’s largest NA client event. The ideal candidate has payment background to shape content and agendas as well as B2B events management experience. You will work closely with North America Sales, NA Operations colleagues, NA Marketing & Communications and NA Product team. This position reports to the Sr. Vice President of NA Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy development for various types of internal and external meeting and events includes shaping and creation of meaningful and impactful agendas and speaker selection that reinforce meeting/events vision and strategy

  • Collaborate with executive team on event objectives, attributes and goals

  • Work cross-functionally with product organizations to develop innovation and technology showcase that highlight Visa’s product and services

  • Lead and mentor a team of 6 and manage a budget of $20M+

  • Execute high quality, impactful, meetings and events

  • Work closely with President of North America as well as Sales team leads on client invites to annual sponsorship events (e.g. Super Bowl, Olympics, etc.)

  • Development of NA Calendar of events

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 12 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or BA preferably in Marketing Communications; Certified Meeting Planner a plus.

  • 10+ years of experience in Payments or technology organization.

  • Proven experience in content development for C-level meetings and events.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently within a complex and often-ambiguous environment.

  • Excellent at collaborating with x-functional personnel of all levels, both internal and external to the company, to accomplish meeting / events objectives.

  • C-level communication skills (written & verbal)

  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency, and deliver under tight deadlines/time frames; prioritize workload

  • Trustworthy and credible; high-level of integrity and excellent sense of judgment

  • Serious attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.

  • Proficient in MS Office applications.

 

Additional Information

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
