Job Description

Global Controllership ensures the integrity and accuracy of the consolidated Visa Inc. financial statements and local statutory financial statements around the world.  We aim to do so by partnering and collaborating with the business and other Finance functions, providing excellent customer service, while also strengthening Visa’s global financial control environment through effective operating policies, procedures and controls. We provide support to Visa’s business operations in a broad range of functional areas including revenue and client incentive operations, financial close, technical accounting and SEC reporting, tax, and internal controls.  Global Controllership is driven by its four core values. Visa is fueling its phenomenal growth with a focus on building a world class Finance team.  We are seeking a motivated candidate for a Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) position on the Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting team to drive the constant enhancement in Visa’s finance function, processes, systems, and value creation to support and enable continued exemplary financial performance and operations.

This role includes participation in various planning, drafting and other activities that facilitate the efficient completion of the Company’s SEC regulatory filings. This role will report to the Senior Director of SEC Reporting, and interacts regularly with external auditors, Legal and Investor Relations, with routine exposure to the Global Corporate Controller, Assistant Controller, and Geography Controllers.  The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations, the ability to implement processes to improve operational efficiency, work with cross-functional teams, and perform disclosure analysis related to accounting issues, all with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.  

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • 4 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD degree

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
    • Certified Public Accountant
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant work experience, including Big 4 public accounting   experience and SEC reporting experience with a large publicly-traded company
    • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting and SEC reporting requirements
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic-thinking skills with a forward-looking focus
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a team environment working with others
    • Proficient with Oracle or similar enterprise accounting system
    • Proficient in utilizing Excel to efficiently analyze data
    • Capable of handling multiple tasks, possess good organizational and analytical skills, able to work independently, and be flexible.
    • Excellent time-management skills with experience in working toward tight deadlines
    • Familiarity with SOX 404 and internal control over financial reporting
    • Experience with Workiva (formerly Webfilings) and XBRL
    • Demonstrated professional commitment, initiative, accountability and ownership of assignments
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adept at handling change
    • Ability to effectively facilitate and present in group meetings

    Additional Information

    Essential Functions:

    • Preparing financial statements,  footnotes, and other sections of quarterly filings
    • Participating in the planning for the quarterly drafting and review cycle; leading quarterly meetings with senior management from global functions and geographies;
    • Understanding  and facilitating g the flow of information and supporting documentation(s) from various parts of the company to ensure accurate and timely reporting;
    • Collaborating with departments and managers regarding the reporting processes and information required for proper and timely disclosures;
    • Maintaining an awareness of Company products, services and the related regulatory environment to effectively comply with all regulatory reporting requirements and disclosures
    • Developing an in-depth understanding and analysis of significant transactions to assess their impact for SEC disclosure purposes. 
    • Additionally, this role partners closely with the Technical Accounting side of the team, occasionally participating in technical accounting analysis of significant or unusual transactions, or recently issued accounting standards updates.

    • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds
