Job Description

Who We’re Looking For

With your extensive employee communications experience and strong interest in technology, you will be the catalyst to energize and align employees to support the priorities of the Technology and Risk/Audit/Public Policy (ARP) organizations. You will develop and execute communication plans that build awareness and understanding for executive strategies, and drive targeted actions and behaviors of employees through creative programs and initiatives within these organizations and across Visa. You will also serve as the lead communications strategist and tactician supporting an executive-sponsored initiative to improve processes and tools employees across the company use to be productive.

You will use your outstanding written and verbal communication skills to develop and manage communications programs and projects, collaborating effectively with technical and non-technical staff to achieve goals of your functional clients and Visa.

This position reports to the Senior Director, Employee Communications, Corporate Functions, and is an individual contributor role. It is based in Foster City, CA.

Your Clients   

Visa’s Technology organization delivers world-class technology for Visa’s clients, partners, consumers and colleagues. With more than 6,000 employees, the organization encompasses one-third of Visa’s employee population. About two-thirds of your time will be spent facilitating communication across the organization, as well as keeping employees across Visa informed of new technologies, processes and tools.

Visa’s Risk/Audit/Public Policy (ARP) organization of ~300 professionals is responsible for identifying and mitigating threats to Visa while supporting the company’s growth and maintaining thought leadership on issues of importance to clients and governments everywhere. Your work in this area will be an estimated one-third and will focus on supporting the priorities of the function’s executive and creating visibility for Visa-wide risk programs.  

Primary responsibilities

  • Serve as a partner and advisor to Technology and ARP organization leaders on effective communication strategies and tactics to drive employee engagement within and beyond their teams.

  • Help employees across Visa understand the contributions of the Technology and ARP organizations. Build awareness and understanding among Visa employees for strategies, programs and initiatives, and to drive desired employee behaviors.

  • Consult and deliver communications for Visa-wide change management initiative to make it easier for employees to use processes and tools to get work done.

  • Provide hands-on writing, editing and production of content across multiple channels (e.g. intranet articles, email messages, newsletters, presentations, videos, etc.) to help functional employees understand what is happening within the function and in the broader Visa organization.

  • Assist with the creation of executive-delivered content for live internal events, including All-Staff meetings, hackathons and engagement activities.

  • Partner closely with colleagues driving other internal and external communications to ensure message alignment and consistency and to generate new content ideas.

Qualifications

  • You are a results-oriented professional with a 8-10 years in a strategic business communications role, preferably in or supporting a global technology organization

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent education and experience

  • You demonstrate excellent writing and editing skills (note: all candidates will receive a writing test)

  • Successful experience providing advice and support to senior leaders for communication strategy, message development and delivery

  • You have a demonstrated track record of  creating comprehensive communication programs that span strategy, engagement, content creation, social platforms and event management

  • You have proven experience blending traditional communication tactics with emerging opportunities (e.g., digital, social, mobile)

  • Experience supporting communications for change management initiatives

  • Skilled in working with a variety of employee communication apps and platforms (e.g., PowerPoint, intranets, collaboration tools, blogs, video, photography, etc.)

  • You are an adept storyteller who can build and deliver consistent messages across a variety of channels to a diverse set of audiences

  • Experience in event planning and management, including All Hands meetings, employee forums and feedback sessions, social and recognition events, etc.

  • You are an enthusiastic change agent and a hands-on  team player who builds strong relationships internally and externally

  • You are a self-starter who is nimble, flexible and comfortable working in an environment where priorities can change quickly
