This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced DevOps & AWS Platform Engineer.  

This role will suit an AWS professional with knowledge of Integration patterns looking to further their skills within AWS and who enjoys working in a client facing role. You will join a team delivering a transformative solution for a key Version 1 customer; working as a member of the application development team, developing integration capabilities with external services.  
 
You will have an exciting opportunity to work on a secure project, based on the client site, playing an active role in delivering AWS cloud solutions to our customer. 

Your main responsibilities will be: 

• Working with AWS application platform developers to ensure high-quality continuous build automation and deployment input to class leading application platform solutions.  

• Assist in ensuring that application platforms and data solutions can be deployed and operated in a highly repeatable and predictable manner.  

• Help defining relevant solution deployment architectures 

• Deploying and managing multiple environments to support rapid, agile development approaches including demonstration environments.  

• Collaborate and liaise with other customer stakeholders/ end users in the software development lifecycle – PMs, BAs, testing etc 

• Provide effective knowledge transfer and upskilling to relevant customer personnel to ensure an appropriate level of future self-sufficiency 

Essential criteria: 

• Existing security clearance is essential

• In-depth knowledge of the AWS platform including both IaaS and PaaS technologies 

• Working knowledge of one or more high-level programming languages, such as Java, or Python 

• Working experience with AWS using both the AWS Management Console and the AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI) 

• Experience in AWS CloudFormation and AWS OpsWorks to deploy the infrastructure necessary to create development, test, and production environments for a software development project 

• Experience in AWS CodeCommit, CodeBuild and CodePipeline to utilise the array of options for enabling a continuous integration (CI/CD) environment on AWS 

• Implement several common continuous deployment (CD) use cases using AWS technologies such as blue/green deployment and A/B testing 

• Experience in an array of application deployment technologies available on AWS, such as AWS CodeDeploy, AWS OpsWorks, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) 

• Experience in automated testing in different stages of a CI/CD pipeline 

• Direct experience of enterprise solution shaping and AWS application platform deployment architecture development including excellent documentation skills 

• Experience of setting up, deploying and managing multiple environments to support agile development approaches 

• It is highly desirable that you have good knowledge and understanding of the following platforms and their deployment: Knowledge of deployment orchestration and configuration management tools (Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, Terraform, Kubernetes).  

• Any experience you have with best practice design principles and approaches for a range of application styles and technologies to help guide and steer decisions would be very desirable 

• Any experience of working in highly dynamic teams using agile methodologies often under demanding timescales 

• Experience of collaborating and knowledge transfer to mixed customer and supplier teams whilst delivering to agreed timelines would be highly beneficial
