Job Description

The ServiceNow Developer is responsible for designing, developing, configuring, and maintaining ServiceNow solutions that support VERSANT's enterprise technology operations. This role will partner with infrastructure, cloud engineering, security, service management, and business teams to build workflows, integrations, automations, and applications that improve operational efficiency and service delivery. 

The ideal candidate has strong experience developing within the ServiceNow platform, including ITSM, CMDB, Service Catalog, Flow Designer, Integration Hub, and custom application development. This individual will play a key role in automating business and operational processes while ensuring platform scalability, performance, and maintainability. 

As a cloud-first media company, VERSANT is increasingly focused on automation, operational excellence, and service integration. This role will help connect ServiceNow with cloud platforms, infrastructure services, monitoring systems, identity providers, and enterprise applications to create streamlined and automated workflows. 

 

Responsibilities 

ServiceNow Development & Configuration 

  • Design, develop, and maintain ServiceNow applications, workflows, forms, portals, and platform customizations. 

  • Configure and extend ServiceNow modules while adhering to platform best practices and upgrade-safe development standards. 

  • Develop and maintain business rules, client scripts, UI policies, UI actions, Script Includes, Flow Designer workflows, and integrations. 

  • Build reusable components and automation capabilities that improve service delivery and operational efficiency. 

IT Service Management & Workflow Automation 

  • Develop solutions supporting ITSM processes including: 

  • Incident Management 

  • Change Management 

  • Problem Management 

  • Request Fulfillment 

  • Knowledge Management 

  • Automate service delivery processes using Flow Designer, Integration Hub, and custom workflows. 

  • Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement. 

CMDB & Service Mapping 

  • Support and enhance the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). 

  • Develop integrations that improve configuration item discovery, data quality, and service visibility. 

  • Assist with service mapping initiatives and dependency modeling. 

  • Ensure CMDB accuracy and alignment with operational and governance requirements. 

Platform Integrations 

  • Design and develop integrations between ServiceNow and enterprise platforms including: 

  • AWS and cloud platforms 

  • Identity and access management systems 

  • Monitoring and observability platforms 

  • Infrastructure and automation tools 

  • Enterprise business applications 

  • Utilize REST, SOAP, APIs, Integration Hub, and event-driven architectures to connect systems and automate workflows. 

Cloud & Infrastructure Operations Integration 

  • Support ServiceNow workflows that integrate with cloud operations, infrastructure services, and operational tooling. 

  • Develop automation that supports provisioning requests, operational approvals, incident workflows, and service delivery processes. 

  • Partner with cloud engineering and operations teams to improve visibility and automation across technology platforms. 

Platform Governance & Continuous Improvement 

  • Follow ServiceNow development standards, security practices, and platform governance guidelines. 

  • Participate in platform upgrades, testing, and release management activities. 

  • Contribute to platform documentation, technical standards, and operational procedures. 

  • Evaluate new ServiceNow capabilities and recommend enhancements that improve business value. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. 
  • 3+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience. 
  • Strong experience with: 
    • ServiceNow ITSM 

    • CMDB 

    • Service Catalog 

    • Flow Designer 

    • Integration Hub 

    • Discovery 

  • Experience developing: 
    • Business Rules 

    • Script Includes 

    • Client Scripts 

    • UI Policies 

    • UI Actions 

    • REST and SOAP integrations 

  • Strong JavaScript development skills. 
  • Experience working with APIs, integrations, and automation frameworks. 
  • Experience supporting enterprise IT operations and service management processes. 
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure, infrastructure operations, and enterprise technology environments. 
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Location: New York City, NY or Englewood Cliffs, NJ - (Hybrid – 3 days onsite) 

Employees based in our Englewood Cliffs office have access to a variety of convenient on-site services and amenities, including free employee parking, complimentary electric vehicle charging stations, an on-site fitness center with locker rooms and towel service, and dry-cleaning drop-off and pick-up.
