Job Description
Versant Media is seeking a Sr. Director, At Home Production to lead REMI and studio-based production operations across all Versant Sports properties. This role is responsible for the operational execution, evolution, and cost control of studio and remote production workflows, supporting both owned and league-produced sports content.
Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Sr. Director, At Home Production provides day-to-day operational leadership for studio and control room production, manages a team of Technical Managers, and partners closely with sport operations, venue connectivity, and content teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and innovative production models.
This role supports production operations based in Englewood Cliffs, NJ / Stamford, CT.
Key Responsibilities:
Studio & At Home Production Operations
- Lead all studio and REMI-based production activities supporting Versant Sports properties.
- Maintain direct operational oversight of studio and control room production workflows.
- Ensure productions meet creative, technical, and operational standards while remaining scalable and repeatable.
- Interface daily with the Englewood Cliffs operations team to coordinate production scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation.
Workflow Innovation & Production Evolution
- Own the evolution of studio and @Home production workflows across Versant Sports.
- Identify, design, and implement workflow improvements that enhance efficiency, flexibility, and production quality.
- Partner with engineering and venue connectivity teams to modernize control room and REMI production models.
- Introduce new workflows in a structured, responsible manner that balances innovation with operational stability.
Financial & Resource Management
- Own operational cost control for studio and REMI production activities.
- Partner with Finance and Operations on budgeting, forecasting, and expense management.
- Contribute to capital planning and execution for studio, control room, and production infrastructure improvements.
- Ensure production resources are aligned with operational priorities and business needs.
Team Leadership & Execution
- Lead and develop a team of Technical Managers supporting studio and @Home production.
- Set clear expectations for execution, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Maintain appropriate hands-on engagement to support complex or high-profile productions without displacing operational leadership layers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with sport operations leadership (Golf, USA Sports, and others) to align studio production with field needs.
- Work with Production Operations to optimize studio and control room utilization.
- Collaborate with Sports Content and Post Production teams to ensure seamless integration between live, near-live, and non-live workflows.
Leadership & Communication
- Provide senior leadership with clear visibility into studio production performance, costs, and workflow initiatives.
- Serve as an escalation point for studio and @Home production challenges.
- Promote a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in sports studio production and control room operations.
- Proven leadership experience managing technical or production teams.
- Strong understanding of studio, REMI, and control room production environments.
- Demonstrated ability to evolve production workflows through practical, operations-driven innovation.
- Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, deadline-driven production environments.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience leading distributed or hybrid production models.
- Familiarity with remote and cloud-based production technologies.
- Strong cost control, budgeting, and operational planning experience.
- Ability to balance daily operational execution with long-term workflow improvement.
