Job Description

Verisk is looking for a proven Director of Strategic Planning and Development within the Marketing team to increase the impact of the Verisk Marketing and Communications organization.

 

This individual will lead strategic marketing planning for Verisk Marketing and Communications, manage process improvements and workforce operations, and develop training and engagement initiatives that create a high-performance team. This individual will be responsible for marketing goal setting and monitoring performance, defining standards through internal and external insights, managing resources, and driving change, as well as managing and developing ongoing communications across multiple channels both within the team and to senior leaders that highlight key initiatives and demonstrate marketing’s value to the business.

The ideal candidate should have significant expertise in marketing, project management, and strategic planning. They should have demonstrated success with communications for large, global organizations; and, be viewed as a trusted partner and advisor to C-suite executives and senior leaders.

The role reports to the VP, Digital Marketing & Strategy, and has a hybrid in-office requirement of 3 days a week in our headquarter office located in Jersey City, NJ.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead marketing strategic planning
    • Lead the annual marketing planning process to ensure alignment to business objectives, proactively assess and realign quarterly goals, and manage reporting both internally and cross-BU
    • Direct the marketing project management function, including implementation, execution, best practices, training, and reporting
    • Oversee marketing budget, including reconciliation, reporting, and communications
    • Partner with BU marketing heads and business leaders on enterprise-wide marketing planning process 
  • Deliver successful marketing team outcomes
    • Lead strategy and process for special projects  
    • Oversee and develop team processes (including vendor RFPs), policies, and calendars to increase efficiency and optimize productivity and team performance
    • Manage ongoing communications and marketing for the function across multiple communications channels
  • Lead team development and satisfaction initiatives
    • Partner with HR on training and talent development program, from plan through execution
    • Deliver the strategy and execution of team building activities, events, and recognition contributing to high team engagement and satisfaction
    • Deliver team internal NPS with insights leading to YOY improvement
    • Create connected enterprise-wide marketing function through townhalls, team workspaces (Microsoft Teams), and ad hoc engagement activities with high team satisfaction (+95%)
  • Direct personal team development programs
    • Develop programs and processes for team coaching and management
    • Oversee personal development activities for team members, including career pathing
  • Serve as trusted advisor to the CMO and executive team; identify gaps in current business performance and competitive offerings and create strategies for filling those gaps in the near term.
  • Interact with peers, direct reports, and other employees in a manner that reflects leadership, fosters open two-way communications, and contributes to superior employee relations throughout the organization.
  • Ability to challenge the team/organization while holding them accountable for their commitments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferred in marketing or related field
  • Broad marketing experience in communications and successfully leading programs and projects across a variety of marketing functions (8+ years)
    • Results-oriented marketer who combines critical thinking and strategy with strong execution
    • Excellent business acumen and ability to work with senior executives
    • Superior written and verbal communications skills, effective at all levels of the organization
    • Superior project management skills and creative problem solver, with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
