Job Description

As Product Manager of models within our Product Management team, you will be responsible for developing and driving the scope, execution and launch of one or more models through working with key stakeholders and large cross functional groups. You will participate in product planning, requirements development, and implementation activities as the product owner for one or more of our scrum teams involved in product development. You will interact with model developers and client support teams and serve as a subject matter expert to help guide model development. You will bring a customer focus to the complex process of building and releasing catastrophe models. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in the insurance or risk management industry with a strong weather or geoscience and technology related background, a blend of business and techno-functional skills, and the ability to define a vision and make it a reality.

About the Day-to-Day Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Work with the research team, model software implementation team, and quality assurance teams to assure a timely release of the model to market
  • Provide model development / software implementation updates to stakeholders
  • Review and provide feedback on model testing strategies
  • Coordinate across multiple internal teams, including Product Management, QA, Software, Business Development, Client Services and Research
  • Maintain and support models between updates; respond to internal and external client questions and issues
  • Manage off cycle software releases as necessary 
  • Be an independent product owner for one or more of the model scrum teams including:
    • Maintaining the team backlog and ticket prioritization and maintenance
    • Remove obstacles to enable the scrum team to maintain a high team velocity
    • Working with Product Manager/SME on use case development and user story creation

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 5+ years insurance industry experience
  • 3+ years working with CAT modeling products
  • Demonstrated ability in managing long term complex projects that include cross functional teams to successful completion
  • Direct Product Management experience including Agile practices, a plus
  • Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent presentation skills, including the ability to articulate complex topics in a concise and easily understandable way 
  • Good understanding of insurance and/or reinsurance industry, including related exposure data, financial terms and catastrophe modeling workflows a plus.
  • BS Degree in science, technical or related field (Master’s degree a plus)
