Job Description

Wood Mackenzie Power and Renewables provides a one-stop integrated subscription, analysis, and advisory service for companies in the energy and related sectors, enabling our clients to make the best decisions within a constantly evolving global energy industry.  

We are looking for an Asia Pacific power and renewables Associate - India to join our dynamic and expanding team in India, located in Gurgaon or Bangalore offices. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and updating power and renewables market data, carrying out market and economic analysis, updating market forecasts and contributing to high-impact research reports for clients. There is also potential to develop power dispatch modeling and power price forecasting expertise. He or she will contribute to research across the wind, solar, battery storage and conventional power research products and will have opportunity to use cutting-edge modelling and data management software.  

This role includes industry-leading skills training and learning opportunities and has excellent career development potential in the power & renewables industry. You will get to work with a global team of power and renewables experts to tackle some of the toughest research questions on the future of power markets and systems. This role also has good opportunities to present and discuss market trends and research with industry analysts and executives from leading energy, commodities, and financial companies.  

 Main Responsibilities 

  • Gathering and tracking market data for Asia Pacific power markets 
  • Learning modelling, data management and market forecasting skills 
  • Delivering high-quality market insights and reports to clients 
  • Supporting requests from clients and senior colleagues 

Qualifications

This is an ideal role for a recent graduate or early-career professional wishing to launch a career as an analyst and eventually thought leader in the power and renewables and energy transition space. We expect you to have a high aptitude for quantitative analysis and modelling, and to be curious to get beyond the headlines on big technology and market trends.  

The successful candidate will be expected to have the following qualities, qualifications, and experience:   

  • High interest and aptitude for market analysis and a strong interest in power and renewables.  
  • 0-2 years of relevant work or study experience in an analytical role. An understanding of power markets, technologies and economics is a plus. 
  • Enthusiasm, curiosity, willingness to expand knowledge and skills. 
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as engineering, science, economics, finance, or other area. A Master’s degree is preferred but not required. 
  • Strong Excel skills. Relevant experience in data and database management is a plus. 
  • Strong organisation, planning and time management skills  
  • Effective writing and presentation skills 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory; fluency in another language is a plus
