Job Description

Verisk is seeking a Data Analyst to partner with the Corporate Operations Manager of Dashboards and Analytics to integrate multiple data sets across various systems and business units to discover new insights and provide advanced analytics. The role will require working with the Service, Sales, and Product teams to synthesize market trends, client needs, sales and service data, and Verisk’s evolving product and solution offering.  The successful candidate will help give vision to synthesizing and structuring different data elements so as to have more seamless and timely reporting and analytic capability.  

The day to day responsibilities of this role are:

  • Participate in special projects and provide help in identifying current business issues, starting or completing analysis, and/or suggesting recommendations/action items.
  • Work across business units to develop, refine and scale data management and analytics procedures, systems, workflows, best practices and other issues.
  • Translate business requirements and unstructured business issues into data analytic problems.
  • Assist in making strategic data-related decisions by analyzing, manipulating, tracking, internally managing, and reporting data. 
  • Perform data research, analysis, and logical data modeling to validate and document the usage of business data artifacts.
  • Analyze data-related system integration opportunities and challenges in order to propose appropriate solutions. 
  • Troubleshoot data quality issues - identifying root cause/system & documentation/communication of resolution.
  • Create and maintain excellent data documentation that allows the data to be understood (Metadata) and leveraged for additional use.
  • Create best practices for testing/profiling of data to ensure proper operation and accuracy.
  • Advise senior management in clear language about the implications of their research.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in a field such as Math, Statistics, Computer Science or Data Architecture. Masters/MBA a plus.
  • Able to work with raw data and transform it accurately into charts, dashboards, other visuals. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to query databases and perform statistical analysis; programming language skills recommended (R, Python, SQL, SAAS etc.)
  • Experience with BI tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.
  • Knowledge in the business of P&C insurance is a plus but not required.
