Job Description

The Director, Corporate Risk Management is responsible for assessing the risk profile and maintaining risk awareness within the organization, assuring proper insurance coverage is in place to cover our multi-faceted businesses.

This is a hybrid position, so we are looking for candidates who are comfortable and available to come in to our office at 15955 La Cantera Pkwy San Antonio, TX 78256 2-3 days per week. Mondays and Fridays are work from home.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage with other departments as needed to obtain their assistance in insurance placements.
  • Distribute updated insurance forms and compliance materials as needed (insurance cards, posters etc.)
  • Evaluate contract and source certificates of insurance in keeping with contractual requirements.
  • Maintain a certificate information database for both incoming and outgoing.
  • Advise executive management on commercial insurance coverage and pricing.
  • Direct and oversee loss control and risk prevention / minimization programs.
  • Review and prepare premium and loss invoices for authorization and payment.
  • Coordinate with various executive and internal teams on loss control recommendation and claims adjustment activities
  • Manage advanced Workers Compensation claims.
  • Effectively communicate with Human Resources and Safety on day-to-day Workers’ Compensation lost time leave coordination and return to work matters.
  • Consult with Legal department, parent company Risk Management and insurers on complex liability claims.
  • Review contract wording both for clients and key vendors.
  • Work with parent company Risk Management department to gather, maintain and format enterprise-wide exposure data for completion of insurance applications.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Risk Management (Required)
  • ARM, AIC, CIC, or CPCU designation desired

EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of experience in risk management, accounting, or finance; Prefer previous risk management or insurance broker insurance experience.
  • Proven critical thinking skills and demonstrated problem solving ability required.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to effectively represent data in a meaningful and accurate manner.
  • Strong knowledge of various types commercial insurance and their practical applications.
  • Familiarity with large loss retention programs and actuarial reserving principles.
  • Experience with a nation-wide Workers’ Compensation program – including monopolistic states.
  • Formally and informally shares department experiences skills and knowledge.
  • Demonstrates leadership in managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Follows and helps drive operational standards; Stays current with industry news.

COMMUNICATION AND CONTACTS

Able to work independently and can communicate effectively across departments vendors and with corporate risk management.

DECISION MAKING

Ability to identify and balance competing priorities and critically analyze data to share insights that will support decision-making.
