Job Description

This critical role has the following key accountabilities: 

  • Legal Operations Support and Advisory (Legal, Contracts, Contracts  Management, Tenders, Project and Functional): Operating as a “solutions provider”: the Legal Function operates as a solutions provider to support Water Tech business goals and growth objectives. By moving beyond traditional law-related duties and leveraging new technologies, the multidisciplinary team of legal and commercial contract management professionals comprise a Global function that supports Water Tech across Regions and Business Lines. 

  • Act as a knowledgeable, trusted, and valuable solution provider in strong support to the business development and growth. 

  • Provide expert legal counsel and strategic guidance to the business units and all relevant departments on a wide range of legal matters, including corporate governance, commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance.

  • To work with and provide support to business leaders and other stakeholders to assist with conducting legal and contractual risk assessment on the company’s business operations, contracts and providing practical risk mitigation solutions and measures.

  • Monitor and provide advice to the Reporting Manager on the potential business impact of new laws and regulations as well as industry developments and trends relating, as well as provide timely updates to senior management on major legal developments and risk areas that may affect the company’s business strategy and operations in the sub-region and region.

  • Handle legal matters and ensure the organisation’s operations are conducted within the limits prescribed by law, the principles adopted by Veolia and that its rights are fully protected through the provision of legal advice and guidance.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor or above degree in law

  • At least 8-12 years' experience as an in-house legal counsel (with a Multinational Corporation (MNC) is an added advantage), or as a lawyer from law firms.

  • Strong legal professional skills, including analytical, drafting, communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and project management skills

  • Ability to advise and educate businesses and functions; ability to adeptly navigate within a matrix organization; good conflict-handling skills     

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and workload, driving deadline-driven tasks to completion in a timely manner

  • High level of personal initiative and commitment, integrity, ethics, transparency and trustworthiness

  • Able to travel based on business needs.

 

Qualifications

  • A recognised legal education

  • Work Experience:
    - Contract, Tenders and Commercial Reviews
    - Contract Management and Understanding in Construction, Energy and/or Water Industry
    - Corporate including Corporate Governance & Company Secretarial exposure
    - Matters pertaining to Compliance, Data Privacy
    - Experience in conducting trainings and awareness programs
