Job Description

The Field Process Engineer will be assigned to customer locations to provide on-site assistance and
support to our field operations teams. Their primary duty is to address and resolve field-related
challenges concerning process management, mechanical operations, and control systems in the
treatment of surface, process, or wastewater sources. This role involves conducting field tests,
diagnosing problems, collecting water samples, and offering support to field operations and
maintenance staff. The engineer will also be responsible for data collection and performing process
calculations to ensure that equipment and processes adhere to proper design specifications and
operational guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting and analyzing Piping and Instrumentation (P&ID) Drawings and Process Flow Diagrams
  • Evaluate feed water and product water qualities and quantities using field instruments and equipment, ensuring strict adherence to contractual specifications
  • Execute chemical dosing calculations, conduct comprehensive RO membrane projections, and verify equipment configurations for optimal flowrates, pressures, and fluxes
  • Optimize and fine-tune chemical dosing regimens to maximize treatment efficacy and efficiency
  • Conduct thorough performance evaluations of complex water treatment processes, including phys-chem softening, catalytic oxidation, clarification, filtration, reverse osmosis, and filter press dewatering

  • Provide critical process support to operations teams for RO membrane cleaning, leveraging expertise to develop and implement cleaning solutions and programs for peak system performance
  • Collaborate closely with Site, Field Area, and Production Managers overseeing on-site operations, providing real-time technical expertise and strategic guidance
  • Offer support to site instrument and control technicians, enhancing their capabilities in instrument calibration and maintenance procedures
  • Spearhead the identification, development, and execution of process improvement and productivity enhancement initiatives on-site
  • Serve as a key technical resource to the site's Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) representative, addressing process-related concerns and ensuring compliance
  • Contribute as a process engineering expert during customer technical consultations, offering valuable insights and solutions as needed
  • Act as the on-site ambassador for the technical direction team, ensuring seamless communication and alignment with organizational objectives

Qualifications

Education & Experience
Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years minimum work experience in an industrial water treatment environment

  • Ability to work independently at customer sites and collaborate with multiple disciplines and levels of management
  • Self motivated and team player
  • Demonstrated dedication to workplace safety
  • An accomplished communicator able to produce quality technical reports/documents, and able to interact with customer representatives in a professional manner

Additional Information

Role will initially be based out of the Odessa/Midland, TX area and dedicated to one jobsite for
6-12 months
