Job Description

Veolia Water Technologies' is seeking a traveling Industrial Controls Electrician. This position will play a crucial role in support of our field operations teams, responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining mobile industrial control systems deployed at various client sites throughout the United States. This role requires expertise in electrical systems, automation technologies, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace items such as instruments, valves, disconnects and starters in order to protect personnel, equipment and to keep processes running.

  • Lead and perform preventive and corrective I&E technical services on all instrumentation, controls, and electrical equipment such as: transmitters (level, temp, etc.), controllers, motor starters, actuators, valves, indicators, switches, and gas equipment, etc.

  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair and reassemble equipment such as automatic valves, motors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, in order to restore to operation.

  • Measure, cut, bend and install conduit, fittings and tubing as needed to install or repair equipment.

  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wire, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, etc.

  • Configure, install, and commission new instruments and controllers. Ensures they are installed and maintained in a manner consistent with industry standards.

  • Lock, tag, try and test energy sources in order make equipment inoperable and safe to work on.

  • Plan and coordinate work with other crafts while installing new work or replacing existing parts with new models.

  • Troubleshoot and correct problems with Programmable Logic Controllers, Microprocessor Controllers, and Distributive Control Systems equipment using test equipment and techniques to restore equipment to operation.

  • Read and be able to interpret P&ID’s, and pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical equipment engineering drawings.

  • Demonstrates some proficiency and troubleshooting ability in PLC programming.

  • Maintains required documentation, writes site visit reports, and keeps calibration records.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • Accredited military or trade school diploma or certificate is required.

  • At least two of industrial experience working on instrumentation and electrical equipment, and equipment calibration according to defined standards.

  • Applicable military training will be considered equivalent to industrial experience.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and skills.

  • Must have basic skills from several of the major standard industrial I & E skills including electrical AC/DC voltage, PLC, pneumatic control valves and systems, basic electronics, motor control systems and process control systems.

  • Proficient communication and computer skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to quality workmanship and flexibility in job assignments.

  • Proven ability and initiative to complete job assignments in a timely manner working independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow safe work practices, NEC guidelines, and standard operating procedures.

  • Must pass pre-employment screening examinations and assessments.
