Position Purpose:
This operator is responsible for the processing of bulk and containerized solids through the bulk solids processing building. This includes operation of Prentice backhoe, shredder and conveyor feed system for the incinerator. Responsibilities include waste tracking recordkeeping, minor maintenance, guiding other operators in off-loading trucks, dumpsters, containers, capacitor shipments, and other materials for shredding. Duties are performed in accordance with a detailed knowledge of the Standard Division Practices, Health/Safety regulations, permit rules, and other company requirements.

- Maintain safety and housekeeping of Bulk Solids System.
- Inspect and maintains Fire Suppression System and U.V. detectors for Bulk Solids System.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and maintains accurate Bulk Logbook.
- Assist with start-up activities including energizing equipment and ensuring all equipment is operational.
- Assist with shutdown activities including performing Lockout/Tagout procedures on designated equipment.
- Serve as a lead operator on all activities in Bulk Solids System consisting of cleanout, decontamination, and repair.
- Must be able to perform RCRA area inspections
- Coordinate with the area operators to resolve any discrepancies found during the unit inspections (RCRA , H&S, Housekeeping) and ensures that they are all being remediated.
- Issue Confined Space, Hot Work and Line Breaking Permits.
- Perform lockout/tagout procedures on designated equipment.
- Respond to all emergency conditions in the Incinerator area, coordinates spill cleanup activities with help from the shift supervisor.
- Maintain safety and housekeeping standards in assigned work area.
- Assist Incinerator Operator in shooting out and/or loading shotgun.
- Maintain proficiency in duties of following job positions, as needed in order to serve as relief operator: Asst Mix Operator
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background:
- High School Diploma and/or G.E.D.
- No unsatisfactory work performance issues and must be qualified in current position (6) months or more
- Currently holding or previously held a position which by definition of task and/or area required person to be trained to level of hazardous waste operator
- Minimum one year process operations experience preferred
- Minimum six months heavy equipment operations preferred
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Must be able to pass a respirator fit test
- Must be able to perform the job requirements and pass a verbal and/or written skill/proficiency test for the position within a reasonable orientation/training period set by Supervisor.
