Job Description
Veilant is looking for a Costpoint Accountant / Payroll Specialist to join our growing corporate finance team. This is an opportunity for an accounting professional who understands the government contracting environment, knows their way around Deltek Costpoint, and wants to have a meaningful impact on how a growing organization operates.
You’ll take ownership of key accounting and payroll activities while partnering closely with our Controller and broader finance team. Beyond executing the day-to-day work, we want someone who will look at our processes, identify opportunities to make them better, and help us build an accounting function that can scale with the business.
If you enjoy combining hands-on accounting with process improvement—and want room to grow your career across accounting and finance—we’d like to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
You’ll play an important role in keeping our accounting operations accurate, timely, and efficient. Your responsibilities will include:
Own and execute the payroll process, including payroll reconciliations and issue resolution
Support the monthly close process and help ensure accurate, timely financial reporting
Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries and month-end reconciliations in Deltek Costpoint
Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies
Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with applicable accounting and government contracting requirements
Partner with Accounting, FP&A, and other internal stakeholders to ensure accounting activities support reporting requirements
Identify opportunities to streamline, document, and automate accounting processes
Recommend practical process improvements that increase the efficiency and scalability of the accounting team
What You’ll Accomplish in Your First Six Months
We want you to know what success looks like before you join us. During your first six months, you will:
Develop a strong understanding of Veilant’s accounting policies, procedures, systems, and monthly close process
Build productive working relationships with Accounting, FP&A, and other key stakeholders
Successfully transition ownership of payroll activities from the Controller
Independently manage recurring payroll and reconciliation responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy
Become proficient in Veilant’s Costpoint workflows and general ledger processes
Identify opportunities to improve or simplify existing accounting processes
Document key procedures to create more scalable and repeatable workflows
Establish yourself as a trusted member of the finance organization with opportunities to continue growing your career in accounting or finance
