Job Description

Do you want to help us lead the transition into a fossil free future, and enable integration of more renewable power production into the European power system? Do you have a curious and analytical mind who likes real time decisions, programming and data analysis? Then we might have the perfect position for you!

Dispatch Nordic is part of Vattenfall’s Intraday Optimisation Nordic department. We optimize Vattenfall’s Nordic portfolios on physical power markets, playing a key role in realizing our strategy for a sustainable energy system. Our team is innovative, high-performing, and flexible—ready to meet the rapidly changing dynamics of the European power market.

The role as Hydro Analyst / Dispatcher:

This is a hybrid role that combines part-time operational work at the Dispatch Desk in our Nordic Dispatch Center with part-time analytical work with our Hydro optimisation. In this role, you will contribute to the development of our optimisation processes, including trading and optimisation strategies, ancillary service delivery, and the design of systems and tools for quantitative, data-driven decision support. IT and data are integral to all our operations, and you will gain hands-on experience with data analysis, advanced forecasting tools, and algorithmic trading.

Vattenfall’s Dispatch Desk plays a central role in the Swedish power system. Working at the desk will provide you with deep insights into the fundamentals of the Nordic power market—knowledge that is essential for success in the analyst role. We value creativity, initiative, and the ability to think outside the box. The Dispatch Desk operates 24/7 in a three-shift system and is responsible for intraday optimisation and dispatch of our Nordic asset portfolio. This includes tasks such as bidding and delivering ancillary services, intraday trading, and operating and monitoring algorithms.

The hybrid role concept is standard practice within BU Assets and is highly appreciated by our employees. It offers a dynamic and stimulating work environment with diverse responsibilities, allowing you to apply insights from one area to another which creates valuable synergies.

  • Flexibility and ability to keep many activities ongoing simultaneously
