Business Area (BA) Markets’ role in Vattenfall is to maximize the value of the overall portfolio by optimizing and dispatching, hedging and sourcing for Vattenfall's sales and generation volumes. We serve as Vattenfall’s single access to energy commodity markets and trade electricity, emissions, fuels, freight, and renewable certificates. Our Business Area (BA) Markets is looking for the right person to fill the position as
Quant Developer.
As part of the Analysis department, Structuring & Valuation delivers valuation models and analytical expertise for pricing deals and assets. In the PPA pricing team we combine the latest market developments with long term fundamental outlook to provide front office with competitive prices for acquiring wind and solar parks.
We offer an exciting and challenging job where you work close to the business as well as with state-of-the-art technology. The position offers a mix of analytical tasks, IT tasks, and close cooperation with the front office, which gives a solid commercial understanding of our markets. The role provides an opportunity to contribute with a DevOps focus in an agile team of analysts.
The position is located in Hamburg as part of an international team of highly professional, skilled analysts, located in Hamburg and Stockholm.
Your main responsibilities:
As a Quant Developer, your role involves having a DevOps mindset and optimizing the usage of our IT infrastructure. For example, you should enjoy working with Kafka and CI/CD pipelines. In addition to this, you should be comfortable attending tech-lead meetings and trying out new technologies to improve the Python implementation of our models. You should also be adept at working with both sophisticated mathematical models and straightforward analyses depending on what delivers the most value to our business. As a natural communicator, you should be willing to interact frequently with the Front Office (Origination, Trading). You are furthermore enthusiastic about working closely with other members of the team – sharing ideas and developing models together in an Agile setup.
Qualifications
Your profile:
- Academic degree of a relevant mathematical discipline, such as engineering, mathematics, physics, software engineering or similar
- Good Python skills
- Strong in software development skills, familiar with UML diagrams and able to implement using SOLID principles
- Experienced with tools like Git, Airflow, Kafka and Azure (we use a platform build on Azure for our models and data)
- Some experience or interest in the Energy business or financial markets
- Able to work with sophisticated mathematical models or are comfortable learning to do so
- Strong communication skills and the willingness to interact with colleagues, stakeholders and other data-driven departments
- Fluent in English. Swedish or German is an advantage
