Nature and Purpose

The Research Scientist is responsible for formulation projects and products research at the Vantage Personal Care technology organization in China lab. This role will develop new applications promoting Vantage technologies and support for claim substantiation of Vantage ingredients.

This role will require cross-functional collaboration between business units and external partners to help solve customers’ challenges, as well as to drive optimization effectiveness of process/procedures and best practices associated with application/formulation development.

The Research Scientist will have strong know-how of cosmetic formulation and will be responsible for conducting product evaluation study to support products promotion.

As a research scientist, this role will require flexibility to travel to meet with customers at their sites and tradeshows.

Laboratory safety is a must and it is expected that the scientist practices standards and best lab procedures and will be a positive safety contributor at Vantage.

Accountabilities with Key Outcomes

• Conduct Formulation Research and Application Development for the Personal Care business unit.
• Contribute to product performance study to support for claim substantiation of Vantage ingredients.
• Support for regional selected events, such as tradeshows and seminars on formulation/solution selling.
• Build good relationship with R&D side of customers to deliver Vantage formulation/solutions.
• Contribute to technical service addressing customers/market current and future needs, requirements opportunities, competitive intelligence, and technology trends.
• Contribute to feedback customer/market unmet needs to drive new product development activities within Vantage.
• The scientist is expected to travel up to 25% of the time to visit customers and tradeshows.
• Laboratory safety is a must, maintain daily safe practices and best procedures in lab.

• Bachelor’s Degree or above in Biology, Chemistry, or Fine Chemistry.
• More than 5 years technical experience in personal care formulations, basic knowledge of major cosmetic raw materials, formulation skills, claim support.
• In-depth knowledge of application research on the fundamental understandings of raw materials, including benefits, efficacy, formulation tips.
• Strong passion for personal care industry, self-motivated, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and to manage multiple projects over a range of disciplines and to keep the on schedule.
• Ability to interface with internal and external contacts at all levels to complete assigned tasks and to maximize customer satisfaction.
• Good Skills in English

Desirable

• 5-10 years of personal care industry experience in Formulation development.
• Previous product performance/clinical study experience in PC raw materials preferred.
• Previous experience in technical service  preferred.
