Job Description

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Safety:

  • Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.

Performance and Delivery

  • Detailed understanding of the Platinum value chain related trends and risks.
  • Ensure ORM framework is effectively implemented for the assigned operations including completion of self-assessments.
  • Maintain visibility of the material risks at the operation through application of baseline risk management and support the implementation of leading risk management strategies and practice across operations and projects.
  • Support risk owners in execution of issue-based risk management, development of control strategies and in monitoring control performance and effectiveness.
  • Maintain and deliver critical control management for each of the material risks.
  • Support the task risk management and continuous risk management processes integrated into work management.
  • Report, monitor and track ORM KPIs for the assigned operations
  • Deliver risk management reports into the operational line and advise operational leaders of ORM performance and necessary actions.
  • Oversee ORM training program to build site capabilities following Valterra Platinum guidelines.
  • Monitor status of training and competency of trained personnel.

  • Adhere to external local compliance requirements as a minimum level of site performance.
  • Adhere to Valterra Platinum compliance requirements and ensure compliance of team.

This role is at a GBF6/12 level, reporting to the SHE Manager

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as science, engineering or other related fields
  • Demonstrated experience in a risk management position within a technical environment,
  • Experience in using risk assessment techniques such as BOW-TIE, HAZOP and other industry recognised techniques and tools.
  • Track record of interfacing with and influencing colleagues)
  • Post Graduate Degree advantageous

Experience

  • 5- 7 years relevant Mining / Process / Engineering/ experience

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of safety, health and environment policies, procedures and the important role of consistently demonstrating required behaviours and championing safety values
  • Desirable: Ability to use Isometrix system for input and data analysis.
  • Translate recommendations into tangible operational outcomes.
  • Self-awareness, and of behaviours that successfully drive or hinder team performance and collaboration
  • Demonstrate drive, determination, persistence, and commitment to apply other elements of capability work
