Job Description
The role is responsible to provide operational support in the implementation and execution of Operation Risk Management (ORM) at mining and process operations.
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Support and coordinate the application of the ORM four layers of risk management at the operation;
- Baseline risk management; Issue-based risk management; Task risk management and Continuous risk management.
- Advise the operation on required skills development to enhance the skills and competencies of employees and contractors to achieve excellence in operational risk management.
- Implement and maintain the functioning of operational risk management Information Management platform.
- Report, monitor and track operational risk performance to risk management role holders and operational management and leader including the generation of amongst others regular site-specific Operational Risk reports and prepare managers / Risk Owners / Control Owners for Managerial routine engagements
- Provide risk based operational input to operation to ensure management of material risks, audit results and Learning from Incidents.
- Routinely advise operational line role holders, managers and leaders operational risk performance and necessary actions.
- Build and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships that build support for the project
- Implement a purpose-driven, high-performing culture that is aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversity, supports engagement and fosters continuous improvement to work processes
- Ensure compliance to Valterra Platinum internal Standards and governance requirements.
Qualifications
- Relevant degree/diploma in Safety / Occupational Health or Natural Sciences OR equivalent
- Professional certifications (advantageous), risk qualification, Safety Health Environmental (SHE) systems audit qualification.
Experience
- At least 5 years in Risk or Safety, Health and Environmental Officer role, preferably in the mining/metallurgical field or heavy industry.
Technical knowledge and skills
- Experience In implementing Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Systems i.e ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 Management systems.
- Risk Assessment Techniques (WRAC, Bow-tie Analysis and JRAs)
- Computer Literate (Ms Office and Projects)
- Training/Presentation/Facilitation skills
- Clean Class 4 Driver’s Licence
