Job Description
- Fixed Term Contract (6 months), Part Time (1 day per week)
he School Counsellor provides professional counselling, early intervention and wellbeing support to students. The role works collaboratively with students, families, College staff and external service providers to identify and respond to student wellbeing concerns, promote positive mental health and wellbeing, and support student engagement and participation in education. The School Counsellor provides individual and group counselling, risk assessment, crisis response, referral and case coordination, and contributes to preventative and whole-school wellbeing initiatives. The role requires sound professional judgement and compliance with relevant legal, ethical, child safeguarding, privacy and professional obligations.
This is a fixed term contract for 6 months with the possibility of extension depending on operational needs.
Key responsibilities:
- Providing individual counselling and wellbeing support to students.
- Conducting risk assessments and responding to student wellbeing concerns.
- Supporting students experiencing social, emotional, behavioural, or personal challenges.
- Working collaboratively with staff, families, and external service providers.
- Delivering wellbeing programs and early intervention strategies.
- Providing advice and support to staff regarding student wellbeing matters.
Qualifications
About You:
- Completion of a Bachelors or Higher in Counselling.
- Current membership with the Australian Counselling Association or the Pyschotheraphy & Counselling Federation of Australia.
- 2+ years of full time counselling experience.
- Active Working With Children's Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience providing counselling and wellbeing support in an educational setting. (desired)
