Job Description
The University of Notre Dame Operations, Events, and Safety (UOES) division is currently hiring for a full-time Restaurant Guest Experience Coordinator within Rohr's in our campus Hospitality department. The UOES Division oversees the University's event management, hospitality, and customer service functions, while also supporting student life, academic initiatives, research activities, and annual milestone celebrations.
Restaurant Guest Experience Coordinator
The Restaurant Guest Experience Coordinator is a highly visible, guest-facing hospitality specialist responsible for creating and coordinating memorable, personalized experiences within our restaurant. Serving as the key connection point between guests, restaurant leadership, culinary teams, Hotel Guest Relations, and food and beverage partners, this role brings our menus, beverage storytelling, and Notre Dame connection to life through genuine, warm hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain an active, engaged presence in the dining room and host area to warmly welcome guests, anticipate needs, personalize dining visits, and assist with service recovery.
Review reservations and guest history via OpenTable to identify returning guests, VIPs, hotel visitors, and special celebrations.
Serve as a food and beverage brand ambassador by maintaining an in-depth knowledge of menus, wine offerings, cocktails, and Notre Dame family beverage partnerships, sharing these stories naturally with guests and team members during pre-shifts.
Partner with servers, bartenders, hosts, and leadership to model hospitality excellence, communicate guest preferences, and reinforce a culture of elevated service.
Proactively identify and propose opportunities for surprise-and-delight touches, hospitality initiatives, and seamless coordination with Hotel Guest Relations.
Qualifications
Demonstrated passion for hospitality and exceptional guest service, with a natural ability to build warm, authentic connections.
Strong working knowledge of food, wine, spirits, and cocktail pairings, with an interest in learning and sharing partner stories.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across cross-functional teams without direct supervisory authority.
Familiarity with reservation management platforms (such as OpenTable) and guest relationship documentation.
Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic, guest-driven dining room environment.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a natural host and relationship builder who genuinely enjoys people and understands that exceptional hospitality is about making guests feel welcomed, recognized, comfortable, and cared for.
They are curious, observant, confident, warm, and knowledgeable. They are equally comfortable discussing a bottle of wine, telling the story behind a cocktail, welcoming a returning guest, collaborating with a server, or working with Hotel Guest Relations to create a memorable experience.
Most importantly, they understand that hospitality is not a script or a set of transactions—it is the art of making people feel that their experience matters.
