Hours: 37.5  per week
Shifts: Day
Status: Temporary Full-time (1 year contract, possible extension)

Position Summary
We are seeking two motivated, detail-oriented Research Technicians to join our laboratory team focused on fibrosis-related diseases. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in primary cell culture and foundational laboratory techniques such as Western blot, RT-qPCR, and ELISA, who is eager to learn, take initiative, and contribute to a collaborative research environment. Experience handling small animals is a plus.

Duties

  • In vitro screening (ELISA, WB, rt-qPCR) of compounds synthesised by our collaborators in multiple primary cells.
  • Maintain cell lines, prepare reagents
  • Collect and record experimental data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Organize laboratory materials, maintain inventory, and participate to lab chores.
  • Enter and maintain accurate data in laboratory databases and shared records.
  • Follow established laboratory safety guidelines at all times. Work under the direction of more senior staff; work is reviewed periodically to ensure conformity to established standards
  • Handle biological materials, chemicals, and equipment in compliance with safety protocols.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and orderly work environment.

Qualifications

  • At minimum, completion of a Bachelor's degree in a health or science related discipline, required 
    • Master's degree an asset 
  • At minimum, 6 months of relevant hands-on experience in cell culture, biochemistry, or related laboratory techniques, required 
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture (cancer or primary)
  • Experience with biochemistry techniques such as Western blot, RT-qPCR, and ELISA
  • Ability to follow established protocols with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong record-keeping and data-entry skills
  • Experience isolating primary cells from mouse or human tissue, an asset 
  • Demonstrated commitment to laboratory safety practices
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to learn new techniques
  • Prior experience handling small animals, an asset
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Good communication and presentation skills (MS Office proficiency)
