Position Summary
This clinical research position is a collaboration between the HPB Oncology Research Group and Transplant Oncology Program, focusing on liver cancer.
Our portfolio includes epidemiological, translational and clinical research led by a multidisciplinary group of clinician scientists. Our focus on genomics, biomarkers and novel therapeutics make this an exciting position for research personnel with basic/translational and clinical knowledge and interests. This position offers an exciting research opportunity for an extremely organized, highly motivated, detail-oriented and hard-working individual, who possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills, and will enjoy the challenge of learning from and working with an interdisciplinary research team. The focus of these positions will be primarily prospective data abstraction in the pancreatic and biliary cancer settings.
Duties
- Data collection, entry, verification and reporting
- Coordinate and obtain informed consent from eligible patients for participation in clinical research studies in accordance with study protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Enters medical data from health records or other sources, as per approved study protocol and authorized access into electronic data capture (EDC) systems for example Redcap, Medidata, etc.
- Identifies and logs protocol and SOP deviations
- Creates and manages study SOPs (ie: data management plans, dictionaries, monitoring plans)
- Supports resolution of data queries from sponsors and issues query forms to study team or third-parties
- Supports contracting with external collaborators
- Supports the reporting of events to Research Ethics Board as needed (Privacy incidents and Serious Adverse Events (SAE))
- Prepares submissions (amendments, reportable events, annual renewals, study closures) to Research Ethics Board (REB)
- Executes study-related administrative tasks, such as collection and maintenance of regulatory documents, ethics submissions, protocols, staff training and delegation logs in paper and electronic format
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum); research-related Master's degree strongly preferred
- Minimum (2) years clinical research experience required: (e.g., study coordination; involvement/ management of randomized control trial studies; database design/set-up; data collection/management; questionnaire administration; data entry; literature searches, etc.)
- Knowledge of ICH/GCP guidelines
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly motivated, with the ability to set priorities and work well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Previous experience using data management (e.g., Microsoft Office Access, Excel) and statistical analysis software (e.g., SAS or SPSS; SPSS) preferred
- Previous experience working on grant and ethics applications required
- Previous experience working in cancer-related research and/or with medically ill patients would be an asset
