Hours: 37.5 per week
Wage Range: $27.19 to $28.71

Position Summary
The Unit Clerk, Respiratory Medicine provides reception function for patients and act as a key communicator with patients, families, physicians, clinicians and other related departments/services scheduling appointments for diagnostic testing and physician consultation as well as preparation and coordination of Respiratory Clinic.
Duties
Coordinate all RDES laboratories testing appointments and Respiratory Clinic appointments using the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and Total Solution (TS) appointment booking software.
Send and file all RDES Laboratories reports and maintain patients’ clinical records in accordance with Centre policy.
Set-up and maintain RDES & Respiratory Clinic patient charts in accordance with Centre policy.
- Format letters, memos and other physician-related correspondence, draft and send e-mails and update calendars. Develop and maintain manual and/or computerized systems for tracking information.
- Manage the Physician’s internal and external calendar by responding to meeting requests, scheduling/re-scheduling meetings and ensuring all relevant materials are received and/or provided in advance of the meetings/events and appropriately filed after meetings/events completion.
- Perform other unit clerk duties as assigned, if not in contradiction with job purpose.
- Be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors including:
- Compliance with the safety standards of the Centre and applicable legislation.
- Identification and prevention of safety issues and problems.
- Taking corrective action, where possible.
- Attendance at safety meetings/training/updates in accordance with Centre’s standards.

Greet and assist patients and visitors as required.
Use computer to assist in data collection activities
- Act as a key communicator with clients, families, physicians, clinicians and other related departments and services.
- Distribute mail, photocopy and answer telephone.
- Schedule appointments and assessments for patients (including equipment, space availability and transportation as required).
- Ensure program areas are adequately stocked with supplies/resources and track utilization of same.
- Maintain patients’ clinical records in accordance with WPHC policy.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 2 year Office experience
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal); resolution oriented
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- Ability to prioritize workload within a multi-task environment with multiple demands while multi-tasking
- Evidence of satisfactory attendance and punctuality
Desired/ Preferred:
- Experience in a healthcare setting and experience transcribing and/or understanding/utilizing medical terminology
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Good computer skills
- Good communication skills (written & verbal)
- Good attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to maintain effectiveness when experiencing change in work tasks or the work environment; adjust effectively to work within new processes, requirements, etc.
