Position Summary
The Signals for Cardiac and Pulmonary Evaluation (SCAPE) study explores the use of wearable and digital monitoring devices to capture physiological signals in individuals living with cardiovascular and/or pulmonary conditions. The study aims to improve early detection, monitoring, and management of heart and lung disease by comparing sensor data to standard clinical assessments. Our team is looking to hire a highly motivated, detail-oriented, driven individual to work on-site and help contribute to daily study operations. This role will be located primarily at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute's Rumsey Centre but may require working at Toronto Western Hospital as needed.

Duties

  • Screen and enroll study participants.  
  • Perform telephone interviews to collect basic study participant data using established criteria. 
  • Obtain medical history, schedule appointments and tests as per study protocol, supervise completion or administration of questionnaires. 
  • Perform data transcription from health records or other sources, as per approved study protocol and authorized access. 
  • Plan and perform data entry and maintain study databases and related files, with a high degree of accuracy.
  • May assist with the collection of medical documents as per approved study protocol and authorized access.
  • Assist with study data collection. 
  • Prepare and maintain research participant files and complete case report forms. 
  • Maintain research regulatory documentation, including assisting with REB applications and amendments, and execute study-related administrative tasks. 
  • Assist the study team in performing study specific tasks. 
  • May assist with the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and processes. 
  • Assist with the preparation of materials for presentations and progress reports to stakeholders. 
  • Provides support for monitoring, audits and regulatory inspections. 
  • Provides assistance with the maintenance & modification of electronic & paper information filing/retrieval methods and systems. 
  • May perform statistical analyses and generate statistical reports, status reports and other data reports, as required. 
  • Performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned or requested. 

Qualifications

  • At minimum, community college diploma in a health-related discipline, or equivalent. 
  • At minimum, must have 3 to 6 months related experience; clinical research experience is preferred.  
  • Experience with data transcription, data entry, and data visualization. 
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.  
  • Experience using MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SharePoint, Canva, and iOS apps required. 
  • Experience performing data entry, preferably with health or medical data.
  • Experience with data visualization, using statistical analysis and data management software, preferred. 
  • Fundamental knowledge of clinical research principles and practice, and techniques relating to data collection, management and analysis. 
  • Knowledge of research regulations and guidelines, such as ICH/GCP guidelines, Tri-Council Policy, Declaration of Helsinki and FDA CFR and Health Canada TPD, as required. 
  • Aptitude in the use of health monitoring devices, including health applications. 
  • Client‑service oriented and effective at working within diverse teams, valuing the unique insights and contributions that come from different backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.  
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and is receptive to feedback. 
  • Good judgement, exercises initiative, tact and professionalism in the workplace. 
  • High personal motivation, self-management, and detail-oriented: ability to take responsibility, meet deadlines and work with supervision. 
  • Exercises compliance with confidentiality requirements, institutional policies, privacy regulations, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
