Reports to: Manager, Core Laboratory
Salary Range: $48.02 to $60.02 per hour
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Status: Permanent Full-Time

As an integral member of the Laboratory management team, the SUPERVISOR CLINICAL LABORATORY is responsible for maintaining primary responsibility for the daily operation of the laboratory including: directly supervising assigned laboratory personnel;; facilitating access to educational programs by assigned personnel; maintaining professional development of self; assisting in the development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures of the Clinical Laboratory, in consultation with the Medical Director and Laboratory Manager; ensuring adherence to Hospital policies and procedures within the laboratory; assisting with the preparation of budgets; maintaining responsibility for laboratory equipment and products; observing Hospital and departmental policies and procedures; adhering to Hospital and departmental mission and value statements while maintaining patient confidentiality; performing cross-functional responsibilities, as required; performing other related duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
Qualifications
- Completion of a three (3) year community college program or a Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technologist, required.
- Bachelor's degree in Business/Health Administration or a recognized equivalent, required.
- Certification with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologist of Ontario (CMLTO), required.
- At minimum, five (5) years of practical and related experience and/or on-the-job training, required.
- Two (2) years supervisory (formal or informal) experience in a laboratory setting, required.
- Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective time management and organizational skills, ability to organize work and set priorities for self and others.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and team leader.
- Demonstrates commitment to continuing education.
- Experience in preparing for Accreditation Canada Diagnostics assessments.
- Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
