Job Description
This role is responsible for leading all systems and operations for the Development team in service of Uncommon Schools’ ambitious philanthropic revenue goals. This role will oversee all functions that underpin an effective development operation, including gift accounting, stewardship, portfolio management, prospect research, CRM administration, data management, and reporting. This role will be the key liaison between Development and Finance and Accounting to ensure strong operational alignment between key areas of work. The person in this role will be an expert on industry best practices, possess deep functional expertise in Salesforce, and be responsible for training staff on all team functions. The Senior Manager of Development Operations reports to the Head of Development and will manage 1-2 direct reports.
Gift Processing and Accounting
- Ensure philanthropic gifts are recorded and acknowledged accurately and promptly
- Liaise with the accounting team on gift and revenue reconciliation
- Serve as Development team contact to support the annual audit process
- Lead cross team collaboration to codify systems for gift accounting and allocations, resulting in comprehensive policies that will increase efficiency across teams and ensure accurate accounting of all philanthropic funds
- Disseminate and drive adherence to policies across teams
Data and CRM Management
- Serve as system administrator of donor CRM, Salesforce
- Lead the strategy, development, implementation, and execution of all internal and external Development reporting and analysis
- Lead the development of philanthropic revenue projections that will inform near- and long-term organization-wide financial planning and budgeting, as well as team goals
- Implement and maintain best practices and processes to ensure accurate and consistent entry of donor and gift data across the team, including proactive data integrity projects and quality control and oversight on all records
Team Operations
- Manage Development Manager and Development Coordinator
- Manage team budget, including expense approvals, budget development, and monitoring spending against budget
- Maintain team resources and sharing of internal data and programmatic updates
- Provide training to new team members on team systems and operations
- Assess development operations regularly to determine potential workflow protocol improvements
Qualifications
- BA required
- 7+ years required; 3-4 years of directly related experience in a similar role
- 1+ year direct management
- CRM administration, Salesforce preferred
- Knowledge of charitable giving laws and guidelines

Compensation for this position: The starting compensation for this role based in NYC is between $104,800 to $123,300 and generally, we expect that qualified candidates in this location will be made an offer between $104,800 and $111,00. The starting pay will depend on a variety of factors that may include but are not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. Because we value staff staying in their roles over time, we do not currently cap salary ranges.
