Job Description

Material Group Management is a strategic area within Purchasing that works across regions and companies. You will develop material group strategies, coordinate these with international stakeholders and implement purchasing projects aimed at improving our long-term cost position and minimizing risks.

As an expert in purchasing for the metal procurement market, you will share your specialist knowledge with the regional purchasing teams and design contracts and processes so that our operational colleagues can work efficiently and automatically. You will initiate and actively support change processes and ensure their successful implementation. In this position, you will report directly to the Head of Material Group Management.

Your tasks:

  • Strategic procurement: Responsibility for the development and implementation of material group strategies in the metal sector
  • Strategic supplier management: Establishment, maintenance and further development of supplier relationships worldwide. You will conduct negotiations and conclude long-term framework agreements
  • Market analysis: analyzing markets, trends and competitors in order to identify opportunities and adapt procurement strategies
  • Project management: managing projects to optimize the value chain, from supplier selection to the implementation of new processes and materials
  • Cost management: monitoring and analyzing cost trends in the metal sector, identifying potential savings and implementing cost reduction measures
  • Cross-functional collaboration: close collaboration with internal departments such as production, quality assurance, development and finance to ensure optimal procurement solutions
  • Risk management: evaluation and minimization of procurement risks, e.g. by diversifying the supplier base and hedging raw material prices

Qualifications

  • Degree in economics, engineering, materials science or a comparable qualification
  • Several years of professional experience in category management, ideally in the metal or raw materials sector
  • Experience in strategic supplier management and negotiation skills
  • Analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
  • Business fluent in German and English, other languages are an advantage
  • High degree of initiative, assertiveness and strong communication skills
  • Willingness to travel occasionally

The salary offered for this position is in line with the market and is based on your specific qualifications and relevant professional experience.

We are required by law to state a minimum salary. The minimum annual gross salary for this position is EUR 35,726 according to the collective agreement (wood industry).
