Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Business Controller to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in financial planning, analysis, and decision-making processes, emphasizing data quality, transparency, and collaboration across multiple branches. This role requires expertise in driving business cases, process optimization, automation, with a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
This role will have regional oversight focusing on our Western Region and will be responsible for business controlling activities for several branches/areas in the Doka US organization. Additionally, this person will have functional responsibility towards operations management at Doka USA. The Regional Controller will report directly to our Director of Business Controlling and will be based out of our National Support Office in Kenilworth, NJ. Your peers in this international, exciting and fast-paced environment will include the Region Controllers, Branch Managers, Operations Managers, HR Business Partner and National (Finance) support teams of Doka USA and the larger Doka Global organization.
Responsibilities
- Manage the strategic & tactical financial support for the respective business partners, being branch management, regional management, and operations management.
- Prepare and conduct a comprehensive business review deck for the region, highlighting key financial metrics and performance indicators.
- Analyze trends in cost and revenue, providing actionable insights to improve financial performance.
- Drive cost ownership on regional overhead, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints.
- Support in preparation of the annual budget and monthly forecast, collaborating with region director, branch managers, and peer regional controllers.
- Lead initiatives related to service margin recovery, engineering resource management, and yard productivity.
- Drive and support the development of business cases and investment proposals specific for Doka US and (the development of) the US regions.
- Improve data quality and transparency across financial reporting and analysis.
- Explore opportunities for automation in key views using Business Intelligence tools for efficient management reporting.
- Develop and maintain proper systems around client monitoring (CRM) e.g. pricing management, managing credit lines, & customer development and project funnel.
Other Responsibilities/Peripheral Functions
- Travel as required, approx. 10-20% (domestic & international)
- Other duties/projects as assigned; including participating in company committees/teams.
- Assists in ensuring safe working practices and a safe working environment
- Complies with all corporate policies and business practices
Qualifications
- Proven working experience as a Finance Business Partner/Commercial/Operations Controller/Country Controller in a global environment.
- 5+ years accounting and finance experience, commercial production / construction / formwork / rental industry experience can be considered a plus.
- Advanced degree in Finance / Controlling / Management / preferred.
- Good knowledge of accounting principles /procedures and business (finance) processes. Work experience with SAP (FI/CO) or known ERP system is a plus.
- Experience with building financial management systems / procedures
- Proficiency with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills required.
- Excellent communication skills, including excellent command of English required (speaking, reading, writing)
- Qualitative abilities including strong analytical skills, technical proficiency and effective problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently in a result-driven, fast paced, environment
- Proactive and strong hands-on mentality
- High commitment, resilience and temporal flexibility
- Open-minded to process changes
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in international environments, multinational groups, matrix environments
- Experience in project management and change management
- CPA, and/or Public Accounting / Consulting / banking experience
