Ubisoft Bordeaux
Founded in 2017, Ubisoft Bordeaux works with passion on the biggest AAA titles to deliver the best gaming experiences. Today, the studio is composed of 400 talents from 20 different nationalities, working on licenses such as Assassin's Creed, Beyond Good & Evil 2 and a free to play game, BattleCore Arena. At the same time, the studio has set up a Tech branch which works on all Ubisoft's online services (named Online Services) as well as on the Anvil game engine. Ubisoft Bordeaux is also home to a R&D team, La Forge, which brings together engineers and researchers to work together on prototypes for game production, particularly around AI topics.
Job Description
As a senior Level Artist at Ubisoft Bordeaux, you will be responsible for creating high quality content and playable game environments with our in-house engine.
As a Senior Level Artist you will:
- Be responsible for the visual part of your location while remaining faithful to the Art Direction (scene management, asset integration and performance optimization)
- Work in close collaboration with the LD to make sure the main gameplay features are respected, the navigation is smooth, consistent and the layout is both interesting and practical
- Gather and require assets from different sources to push and dress your location
- Share technical and artistic knowledge to mentor junior members of the team
- Be a reference for the level art team in relation to various artistic elements and find solution to complex issues that arise
- Make suggestions to reach excellency in your location and share any concern
- Create documentation, asset briefing, set-up placeholders and final beautification of in-game scenes with a focus on mood and storytelling.
Qualifications
- You have experience in a full project cycle on a AAA console title
- You are used to work on tasks autonomously and to deliver results in time
- You are willing to share your experience with other artists and drive to grow
- You have great communication skills and teamplayer spirit
- Drive to push the limits of current workflows and seek ways to improve them
- A keen eye for composition, proportion, and sense of scale
- Strong ability to tell stories through level Art
- Solid understanding of industry standard 3D modelling packages as well as texture & material creation workflows.
- Ability to work with level art specific techniques like scattering, terrain blending etc.
- Solid understanding of Level Design and art fundamentals and design (including an understanding of composition, color theory, and lighting)
- Fluent in English, both verbally and written
