Job Description
Purpose
We are seeking a Dyno Support Technician / Senior Technician with a strong focus on test facility operations, equipment calibration, and dyno cell readiness. You will ensure that our engine, powertrain and vehicle test facilities operate safely, consistently and to a high standard of technical accuracy.
This role suits both developing technicians and experienced senior technicians - responsibilities will scale depending on your expertise.
Responsibilities

Facility Operations
- Maintain test cells, dyno rooms and associated plant systems in a safe and operational state
- Perform regular facility checks including ventilation, fuel systems, cooling, emissions equipment and electrical supplies
- Support scheduled and reactive maintenance activities with internal teams or external contractors
- Ensure equipment, tooling and working areas meet safety and housekeeping standards
Calibration & Technical Assurance
- Carry out scheduled calibration of dyno equipment, sensors, transducers, torque meters, emissions analysers and data acquisition hardware
- Maintain calibration records and ensure equipment is within tolerance and traceable
- Assist with troubleshooting measurement issues and replacing faulty instrumentation
- Support verification activities such as dyno correlation checks or sensor validation
Test Cell Support
- Prepare test cells for upcoming jobs — instrumentation set‑up (dependent on level)
- Conduct basic diagnostics on facility or instrumentation faults
- Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC staff at all times.
Senior Technician Additions (if applicable)
- Lead complex facility maintenance tasks or calibrations
- Own parts of the calibration schedule and manage traceability
- Act as a point of contact for technical escalations within the cell facilities
- Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC staff at all times.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Level 3 Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive or similar qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Calibration or instrumentation training beneficial
- Additional safety training (LOTO, confined space, HV familiarity) advantageous
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Practical engineering or mechanical/electrical aptitude
- Experience within a test facility, workshop, or industrial testing environment
- Understanding of test equipment, sensors, instrumentation or calibration principles
- Strong diagnostic, communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work safely within technical environments
Preferred
- Experience with engine, powertrain or vehicle dyno facilities
- Familiarity with calibration standards (UKAS, ISO17025, traceability etc.)
- Experience with emissions measurement systems
Other
- Full UK driving licence & own transport (UTAC Millbrook is not easily accessible via public transport)
- Willing to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check
- NOTE: This position be will based on site
