Job Description

  • Partner with patients to resolve billing, payment, and account-related concerns with professionalism and empathy.
  • Investigate and reconcile patient account discrepancies to ensure accurate billing and timely resolution.
  • Process patient payments, refunds, and account adjustments accurately and efficiently.
  • Verify, review, and update patient insurance information to maintain accurate account records.
  • Communicate with insurance providers to verify eligibility and benefits, obtain prior authorizations, and resolve coverage issues.
  • Follow up on outstanding insurance claims, denials, and unpaid balances to maximize reimbursement.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient account documentation in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while assisting patients, providers, and insurance representatives with billing inquiries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, improve billing processes, and support timely reimbursement.
  • Stay current on insurance regulations, payer policies, and medical billing and coding requirements to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in medical billing and collections
  • Knowledge of medical billing and coding, insurance regulations, and healthcare reimbursement policies
  • Experience verifying insurance benefits and obtaining prior authorizations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Waystar, Japari and other computer programs
