Company Description
USPH is seeking an experienced Regional Controller to join our growing company. As an individual contributor, the Regional Controller is a key member of the accounting and operations teams, overseeing the accounting and financial reporting function for a specific region of the U.S., reporting to the Director of Operations Accounting, with a secondary reporting relationship to the Regional President of Operations.
The primary responsibilities are ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial statements for the clinics in their regions, including the income statement, balance sheet and tracking of cash. Additionally, the Regional Controller prepares various financial, operational, and metric analyses for their clinics, and assists in the preparation of the annual regional budget. The Controller will partner with areas across the business, including the partner & directors of clinics, revenue cycle management team, accounts payable, cash management, corporate accounting, IT, and executive management.
The ideal candidate is someone who is hands-on, can embrace ambiguity, and loves solving problems.
The role is based at our corporate headquarters in West Houston, TX (remote candidates are not being considered).
Job Description
- Deliver accurate and timely reporting to accounting management, operations management, and internal auditors.
- Review financial results, report variances, and provide leadership with information that enhances their understanding of the financial results
- Support internal stakeholders with various ad hoc analyses
- Prepare financial statements for all the clinics in the region
- Calculate and record bonuses for the clinic leaders in their region.
- Review clinic invoices for coding, proper authorization, and approve for payment
- Analyze billing reports for aging, individual account collections, and days outstanding
- Review financial, operational and metric trends (visits, net rate per visit, payroll rate per visit and margin rates) for reasonableness and provide explanations for changes
- Respond to clinic’s inquires and requests for information
- Educate clinic partners on all aspects of their financial statements
- Support M&A activity in their region
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of accounting experience (prior public accounting experience a plus) in a corporate environment, ideally within organizations with multiple entities
- CPA is preferred but not required
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong ERP systems experience
- Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, who is able to communicate complex concepts to stakeholders
- Experience with multi-jurisdictional businesses, internal controls, and SOX compliance
- Excitement around navigating a high-growth, rapidly changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment
- Proven experience developing cross-functional relationships, which will be key for the success of this position
- Proficient in interacting with and creating a collaborative working environment amongst stakeholders at all levels of the organization
