Job Description
Who are we looking for?
RACE (Remote Applications in Challenging Environments) is based at Culham, within UKAEA, specialising in remote handling and automated systems. RACE’s objective is to create an internationally recognised centre of technical leadership for Remote Applications in Challenging Environments, delivering complex solutions, developing new technologies and supporting UK industry.

What will you be responsible for?
- Leading the site installation of hardware and cabling for remote handling applications, including control panels, cubicles, and harnesses
- Preparing and assess technical documentation such as testing and commissioning procedures, safety assessments and method statements.
- Providing technical leadership for the testing and commissioning of Robotic cells and equipment , ensuring compliance with both site requirements and legislated safety standards with responsibility for final sign off
Qualifications
Essential skills, experience and competence required
- Formal Electrical/Electronic/Engineering qualification (City and Guilds, ONC, HNC, BSc, BEng)
- Previous experience in a practical role within a relevant field delivering complex electrical systems
- Extensive experience of Robot integration & commissioning to ISO 10218-2
- Production and review of Sistema and PASCAL reports in support of 13849-1
- Demonstrable experience of Robot programming
- Knowledge of BS EN 60204-1
- Programming and validation of Safety PLCs
- Experience of understanding electrical schematics and general assembly drawings
- Excellent demonstrable workshop skills
- Experience of working in a safety dominated working environment
- Flexible working attitude with the ability to deliver required tasks both as an individual or as a team member
- Able to produce high quality work to deadlines and to close out projects
- Able to coach less experienced staff
- Extensive experience of Complete system commissioning
Desirable skills, experience and competence
- Experience of using electronic/electrical/mechanical CAD systems
- CMSE Accredited qualification
- IOSH Managing Safely
