Job Description
Twitter’s mission is to serve the public conversation. The Content Data Science team designs metrics, performs analyses, and runs experiments to better understand the public conversation happening on Twitter. You’ll work closely with our partners in Product, Engineering, Design, Research, and Twitter’s leadership to understand user behavior, inform product decisions, and influence the company strategy.
As a Data Scientist, you will support the entire product development lifecycle from product ideation to opportunity sizing, from measurement design to experimentation, from causal analysis to post-launch learning, and iteration into the next development cycle. You will design and implement experiments or other econometric methods to understand how changes to the platform affect user behavior. Part of your role will include building novel metrics, identifying the impact of products and policies, and studying the causal impact of our product launches. You will also communicate findings to executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
You are great at:
Collaborating with PMs, engineers, and designers to drive product impact through data science
Defining metrics and success for products
Mentoring junior data scientists
Providing technical guidance and review to junior data scientists
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience in Data Science or adjacent roles
- Graduate degree in a quantitative field (PhD preferred)
- Expertise solving complex and highly impactful quantitative business problems with at least one scripting language (Python, R, etc.) and SQL
- Experience with one or more of the following in an applied business setting: advanced statistical techniques for A/B testing, methods for experimental design, observational causal inference, or quasi-experimental analysis.
