Who We Are:

Our mission is to enable rapid product iteration at the Twitter scale through powerful generic building blocks, flexible abstractions, and self-service tooling!

The Core Services teams provide interfaces, frameworks, and tools that make it easy to build on top of Twitter data and core Twitter objects (such as Tweets and Users) while minimizing operational concerns and ensuring user privacy.

Our application infrastructure is critical to the product and must be highly reliable and scale to millions of requests per second.

Working together on building and operating our own high-scale systems is a rare and exciting challenge! We are a tightly-knit and supportive group that loves working together, and we are looking for outstanding additions to our flock.

Qualifications

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead a diverse geographically distributed team of engineers in Core Services

  • Drive the team’s technical strategy and roadmap – crafting success metrics in close collaboration with your peers across the company

  • Bring a strong perspective that inspires change and motivates engineers to develop simple solutions to hard problems

  • Collaborate with many engineering teams, product management, and other functions to develop best-in-class solutions

  • Develop and sustain a high-performing team

Who You Are:

A successful engineering manager will:

  • Possess excellent communication skills

  • Be an excellent problem solver

  • Have empathy for internal customers

  • Have a track record of delivering new products and iteratively improving them over time

  • Have experience with API design, distributed systems, and microservice architecture

  • Be able to partner effectively with engineers and is a magnet for engineering talent

  • Be an experienced mentor and coach

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing a team of software engineers

  • Experience working  as a software engineer
