Job Description

Turnitin is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our accounting operations. This role will be a key player in the month end close activities for Turnitin’s International entities, including monitoring general accounting practices, developing internal accounting controls, tracking high volume of transactions, maintaining the general ledger, balance sheet, account reconciliations, and managing a team of 3 accountants.

This position requires the ability to work, adapt, and evolve in a fast-paced environment, often working under tight deadlines, changing requirements, and with teams in multiple time zones. Dedication, quick thinking, good decision-making, a high sense of urgency and management skills are critical traits for this role. This position will report directly to our Senior Manager of Accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of day-to-day accounting operations for the entities within the regional scope of this role and ensuring that stewardship is upheld.
  • Review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and timeliness of preparation driving best practice.
  • Preparation of monthly P&L variances and presentation to the Senior Manager
  • Working with multiple currencies and ensuring proper recording in NetSuite
  • Reconcile statutory financial records prepared by international consultants to NetSuite
  • Responsible for all statutory reporting including local GAAP translations and adjustments. Keeping up to date and researching local GAAP developments.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations and audit requirements are completed on time
  • Lead point of contact for local audits to ensure timely completion of audit deliverables and resolution of any audit queries
  • Integration of acquisitions as necessary
  • Lead and motivate a team of accountants across multiple jurisdictions to support their professional goals.
  • Responsible for setting goals, monitoring progress and setting individual development plans
  • Maintain a strong control environment, updating processes where required
  • Continuous improvement of processes and procedures as the Company continues to grow
  • Assist with system implementations/upgrades when required
  • Ad hoc projects as requested

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Qualified accountant with a recognized accounting body (CIMA, ACA, ACCA etc).
  • 3+ years of Accounting experience in a fast-paced, global environment
  • Expert Excel skills and extensive experience in working with NetSuite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact across a variety of functional areas
  • Experience working in an international multi-currency organization
  • Previous people management experience

Desirable:

  • Experience with US GAAP
