Job Description

We are looking for someone who brings passion, security experience, attention to detail and the  willingness to continuously learn. This role reports into the Sr. Director of Security and Compliance and will have an opportunity to shape the security operations function for the global leader in education technology. As an Information Security Analyst , you will plan, implement, upgrade, and monitor security protocols for the protection of Turnitin’s digital networks and information.

  • Investigate, triage, monitor and analyze security events and incidents from a wide variety of cybersecurity technologies such as endpoint security tools, network security tools, etc. 

  • Perform event correlation using information gathered from a variety of sources within the enterprise to continuously improve detection 

  • Identify, monitor and drive remediation of vulnerabilities and threats

  • Provide support in obtaining and maintaining compliance with CIS and NIST standards 

  • Support the maintenance of incident response documentation including the Incident Response Plan, Incident Response Playbooks, etc. 

  • Partner with various stakeholders across the business to improve overall security posture 

  • Support end-to-end incident response activities related to a wide variety of security risks and threats, including but not limited to, ransomware, system compromise, account takeover, phishing, etc. 

  • Working knowledge of cloud security configurations and controls, identity, and access management (IAM), cryptography,, and vulnerability management 

Qualifications

Core Requirements 

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in information security 

  • Technical background in:

    • Cloud security (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

    • Windows and/or MacOS  security best practices 

    • Network and Firewall concepts 

    • Vulnerability Management

    • Security tools such as IAM solutions, Intrusion Detection, SIEM, EDR / XDR solutions,  Secure, Email Gateways, and Log Management Systems 

  • Incident response 

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills 

  • Incredibly organized, self-starting individual capable of driving deliverables through to completion

  • Must embody a passion for learning to continually improve themselves and those around them

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of CIS & NIST frameworks 

  • Relevant industry security  certifications (GIAC Certified Detection Analyst (GCDA), , CISSP,  Security +, GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)), 

  • Knowledge of SOC2, FedRamp / StateRamp or ISO 27001

  • Threat Hunting experience

  • Understanding of security principles with the ability to communicate security concepts to non-technical and technical audiences with ease. 

  • Previous experience coordinating penetration tests

  • Demonstrate innovative security approaches in non-traditional IT environments

  • Have experience generating automated metrics to measure service and program effectiveness and consistency

  • Have experience in the management of security products

  • Education technology experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
