Job Description

Due to increased opportunities and demand in the Energy & Natural Resources division, the Energy & Natural Resources team are recruiting Senior Project Planners to join a diverse and supportive team during a period of significant growth. The role is expected to have regular site presence in Teesside 3-4 days a week to support construction planning, progress validation and Contractor engagement, with attendance aligned to key site meetings, package reviews and project reporting requirements.

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

The Senior Planner will provide day-to-day planning assurance and construction planning support across the project, supplementing the existing planning function and strengthening package-level schedule review, progress validation and reporting. The role will focus on Contractor and Subcontractor programme assurance, site progress validation, short-term planning and the identification of emerging schedule risks.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

As a Senior Planner, you have a passion to provide services as required by our clients, which may include:

  • Review Contractor and Subcontractor programmes, progress updates, lookahead schedules and Level 4 planning submissions.
  • Support day-to-day planning assurance across key construction packages.
  • Monitor progress against the Performance Baseline, forecast programme and key project milestones.
  • Review short-term construction planning, including 3-week lookaheads and package-level delivery plans.
  • Identify schedule risks, logic issues, interface constraints, progress slippage and critical path concerns.
  • Support site progress validation through engagement with construction, QS, cost and package teams.
  • Contribute to monthly reporting, schedule narratives, variance analysis and performance commentary.
  • Support alignment between planning, cost, QS, commercial and project controls outputs.
  • Attend site progress, planning, construction coordination and package review meetings.
  • Escalate programme concerns and support mitigation planning where required.· Creation, development and maintenance of project schedules that assist and align with project requirements on a complex, risk managed project or programme.
  • Adherence to NEC or FIDIC contract processes for management of schedule data and submissions.

Qualifications

You have senior professional Project Controls experience specialising in Planning & Scheduling in one or more sectors across the whole Project lifecycle. You have strong knowledge and proficiency with Primavera (P6) and can coordinate and work with other teams utilising your multi-disciplinary knowledge.

You will be a strong communicator, able to demonstrate leadership behaviours with the ability to influence, manage, motivate, coach and develop a team by fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. You promote empowerment and contribution and have a passion to build a community and support network beyond your delivery role.

You also;

  • Senior planning experience on major onshore construction projects, ideally within Oil & Gas, clean energy, energy transition, heavy industrial, Petrochem or major infrastructure environments.
  • Strong Primavera P6 experience, including programme review, baseline comparison, progress updates, critical path analysis and forecast assessment.
  • Experience working in a site-based construction environment with direct interface with Contractors and Subcontractors.
  • Good understanding of construction sequencing, productivity, site constraints, access issues and package interfaces.
  • Ability to challenge programme submissions and provide clear, practical planning advice.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have the ability to make risk-based decisions where the parameters are unclear, and judgement is needed.
  • Have strong leadership skills with the ability to mobilise, inspire and lead by example.
  • Have strong stakeholder management experience.
  • Can navigate through conflict situations and defuse tension.
