Job Description
The Project Planning & Control Manager will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules to ensure efficient and timely project execution. The role involves close coordination with multiple stakeholders to track progress, manage risks, and provide accurate reporting to support management decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop detailed project schedules covering engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Establish baseline schedules and update plans periodically based on project progress.
- Identify critical paths, key milestones, and schedule dependencies.
Monitoring & Control
- Monitor and analyze project progress against approved schedules and report deviations.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, dashboards, S-curves, and look-ahead schedules.
- Conduct variance analysis and support preparation of corrective and recovery plans.
Cost, Resource & Cash Flow Coordination
- Support resource planning and loading in alignment with construction plans.
- Coordinate with commercial teams to align planning inputs with billing, cost control, and cash-flow forecasting.
- Track productivity and highlight improvement opportunities.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, construction, QA/QC, and contracts teams for integrated project planning.
- Participate in review meetings with internal stakeholders, clients, and consultants.
- Provide planning inputs for change management, claims, and EOT submissions.
Risk & Schedule Management
- Identify schedule risks and constraints and propose mitigation strategies.
- Assist in preparation of recovery and fast-tracking schedules when required.
- Ensure timely updates to project schedules reflecting on-site realities.
Process & Reporting
- Maintain planning trackers, progress measurement systems, and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to standard planning processes and reporting formats across projects.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in planning and control functions.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, and monitoring methodologies.
- Hands-on proficiency in Primavera P6 / MS Project and advanced MS Excel.
- Good understanding of EPC / construction project lifecycles and execution processes.
- Strong analytical, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical preferred).
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in project planning and control roles.
- Prior experience in infrastructure, construction, EPC, or industrial projects is essential.
