Job Description
Project Planner is responsible for the detailed planning, scheduling, and coordination of Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) activities within projects. The role will work closely with senior leaders, project managers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure that all aspects of the project scope are executed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule Development & Management: Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive schedules for the Structural, Mechanical, and E&I scope of work, ensuring alignment with the overall project schedule and milestones.
- Progress Tracking: Monitor and track the progress of project activities against the established schedule, identifying deviations, and providing timely updates to the senior leader. Support in reviewing and validation of contractor schedule and progress report.
- Coordination & Integration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including structural, mechanical, and E&I engineers, to ensure that planning activities are integrated and coordinated across all project phases.
- Resource Allocation: Collaborate with project teams to ensure that the required resources (personnel, equipment, materials) are allocated efficiently to meet project objectives.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks to the project schedule and develop mitigation plans to address any issues that may arise, ensuring minimal impact on the project timeline.
- Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on the status of project activities, including schedule updates, critical path analysis, and progress reports, to the senior leaders and other stakeholders. Ensure contractor submits their updated schedule and progress reports as per agreed reporting calendar.
- Change Management: Manage schedule changes related to the Structural, Mechanical, and E&I scope, ensuring that all modifications are documented, evaluated, and communicated effectively.
- Optimization: Continuously seek ways to optimize project schedule, improving efficiency, reducing delays, and ensuring that project objectives are met.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling within the Structural, Mechanical, and E&I sectors, preferably in mining, construction, or heavy industrial projects.
- Experience with large-scale, complex projects in remote or challenging environments is highly preferred.
- Software Proficiency: Expertise in project planning and scheduling software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent.
- Skills:
- Fluent in English and Chinese
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP), or similar certifications are advantageous.
