Job Description
The Logistic Director with a proven track record in constructions logistics within large programmes of work.
As Logistic Director you will be responsible for developing (and delivering on) a business plan for aggressive growth. You will work closely with the various Logistic owners to align sector ambition with business operations.
You will play the lead role in expanding our ‘centre of excellence’ for Logistics, further developing our best practises. Supporting major Logistics projects during initiation / set-up, contributing to the project execution plans (PEPs) and master programmes / schedules.
Key responsibilities:
- Accountable for setting a clear strategy for the provision of those logistics services where there is a clear benefit of shared or common provision and that will support the delivery of the project. The strategy will need to embrace the needs of a diverse stakeholder group and will need to be able to support project certainty, cost predictability, consistent quality and meet the expectations of construction staff and workforce communities.
- Accountable for developing and delivering the acquisition plan that achieves the logistics strategy. Work closely with Procurement to identify best in class acquisition practices and contracting methods that support the project operating model and so demonstrably provide capital efficiency in relation to logistics service.
- Lead a pro-active risk management agenda. Develop and agree contingencies with key stakeholders to ensure that the project is not put at risk.
- Accountable for managing the appointed construction logistics service provider. Develop and agree an organisation that can deliver and support the achievement of efficient and measurable performance targets. Ensure those targets meet the needs of all stakeholders and ensure they increase the capability of the construction logistics delivery organisation.
- Accountable for leading the overall central logistics delivery. Ensure this organisation works to establish logistics demand, plans appropriate and cost-efficient solutions, and is able to implement solutions quickly when required and / or to an agreed plan. The overall organisation must deliver high standards of logistics services, that are customer focused, that achieve high environmental and sustainability targets and that meet all CDM and facilities management legal requirements.
- Accountable for ensuring provision of logistics services on the project are aligned to best practice.
- Drive continuous improvement activities that continue to evolve the logistics services provision to meet changing project and functional requirements. Work with stakeholders to ensure that accountability for other shared logistics services (e.g. concrete crushing and batchers) is in the right place.
- Industry experience within renewable energy, power, wind, solar projects is mandatory.
Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years relevant working experience delivering major construction and capital projects
- Graduate or post graduate qualification in logistics, supply chain management, operations management or international business
- Experience of providing high standards of services in a multi-stakeholder, complex technical, geographic and risk environments
- An effective problem solver, with a track record of applying a challenging and analytical approach to complex issues and developing innovative yet pragmatic solutions.
- Industry experience within renewable energy, power, wind, solar projects is mandatory.
