Job Description
The Actuarial team at Trupanion is looking for an Actuarial Intern to be responsible for completing a wide range of reports and analyses, both recurring and ad-hoc. The ideal candidate is analytical, technical and a fast learner. They have an interest in the actuarial career and shares our passion for data and pets!
The Actuarial Intern will report to one of our actuarial team members and work closely with actuaries and other departments within the company. Trupanion’s 12-week actuarial internship program will occur in the summer of 2026 and is crafted to introduce you to the world of actuarial science. Our goal is to provide you with the opportunity to both gain exposure to the actuarial profession and the company’s unique culture with hopes of extending full-time offers.

If you live in the greater Seattle area, you will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule where you will work from our casual, pet-friendly office at least 3 days a week.
Assisting Responsibilities:
- Assists in gathering and manipulating data, performing calculations, and producing reports
- Learn the product design and actively participate in team meetings and department initiatives
- Learn different actuarial techniques in pricing, reserving and other analysis
- Develop and use databases, spreadsheets, and computer programming to fulfill requests
- Build tools and reports for validation, competitive analysis, tracking, auditing, reserving, and pricing
- Maintain and/or improve monthly and quarterly reporting processes and procedures such as experience reports, DOI data, and reporting requests
- Present a final project to the VP of Actuarial Services and other members of the Actuarial teams
Qualifications:
- Preferably pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
- Preferred completion of one or more actuarial exams
Skills:
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- SQL and/or statistical coding experience is a plus
- Excellent verbal, written, and data presentation skills
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to effectively manage multiple or changing priorities
- Highly driven and motivated to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Flexibility to work both independently and in a team environment
Compensation:
The pay for this position is $30 an hour, on a full-time schedule.
